10 PS4 Games You Probably Didn’t Know Came Out In 2020

2020 has been a very different year for everyone, including the gaming industry. Some titles were pushed back, canceled, or came out of nowhere and became hits. Because of the upheaval set forth through the world these past months, it seems like even more video game releases than usual were diminished by the shadows of the usual industry giants doing their thing.

Regardless, Sony and the PlayStation 4 were still able to unleash a torrent of awesome games to keep everyone entertained, wherever they are. There were quite a few unexpectedly fun games to be found hidden behind the bigger advertisements that resounded with gamers the world over.

10 Ultimate Fishing Simulator

This incredibly in-depth fishing game made waves in the simulator game community. The amount of detail the interface has while simultaneously being minimal and unintrusive allows players to get exactly the information they need and nothing unimportant.

Ultimate Fishing Simulator knows that fishing is meant to be a getaway from the worries of the world; stress; society; and the rest. Though not in solitude, for in nature one can be part of everything: a mighty predator of the rivers and lakes of the world.

9 Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

The hit game show now makes its way onto the PS4 for fans new and old to enjoy. Answer 15 questions and win a million dollars, albeit in digital money. However, the thrill and the pressure of each question will weigh upon one’s mind throughout each attempt.

Game shows making an appearance in the video game world are starting to become increasingly common. However, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is one of the most underrated for the amount of replayability it has. There are so many different questions programmed into this game that it is essentially an infinite trivia simulator.

8 Transformers: Battlegrounds

Despite having a huge brand name and great reviews, this X-Com game disguised as a children’s Transformers title flew very much under most people’s radars. Oddly appropriate, though a bit disappointing in regards to a marketing effort.

Transformers: Battlegrounds is a much less stressful iteration of more popular strategy games. Players take control of various Autobots and do battle with the Decepticons in turn-based battles that involve deep, satisfying mechanics as well as memorable characters that fans of the franchise will enjoy seeing and fighting alongside.

7 Supraland

Inspired by games featuring immersive exploration and cryptic yet enjoyable puzzles, Supraland hit the Playstation 4 to the tune of great feedback from casual gamers and critics alike. The combat is easy to get into but leaves room for a player to grow and expand how they like.

The puzzles are well balanced; challenging yet fair. There are also lots of locales to galavant about, seeking, crafting, and building whatever one desires. Many players say it is like a mix between Minecraft and a Legend of Zelda game.

6 Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?!

The third game in the indie series about running one’s own food franchise has gamers drooling. The graphics are a huge step up from previous games, however, the gameplay and vibe are very much true to the spirit of culinary excellence. There are a ton of different modes to play, from working one’s way up the world of five-star restaurants to experimenting and developing one’s own style and technique in various scenarios.

There is the classic diner food but also a tremendous amount of new recipes and dishes for one to chop, fry, and flip onto the plates of hungry NPCs. The pace of Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! is fast, especially during rush-hour, though offers a thrill that few other simulator games can match in intensity or fluidity.

5 Kingdoms Of Amalur: Re-Reckoning

As a remaster of the hugely successful Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, this was bound to please fans of the 2012 title. This immense fantasy world was born from the minds of some of the people responsible for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, though is not connected in lore. They both have epic storytelling, uniquely deadly fiends, and an awesome array of weapons to slaughter said fiends with.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning does great justice by the original in the form of shorter loading screens and tightened mechanics throughout the entire adventure. There are also updated graphics and fixes to bugs and glitches that existed before, making this already incredible journey even more fun.

4 Amnesia: Rebirth

Much like its predecessor, Amnesia: Rebirth offers players a horrifyingly wonderful experience laced with challenging puzzles that will test their sanity. Explore the darkest parts of an Algerian desert while trying to stay alive is easier said than done when the supernatural is concerned.

Explore and uncover some ancient history and the monsters that it has birthed from the bowels of dank crypts and forgotten tombs. Players need to use their wits and knowledge of the world to evade these fiends, so be sure to pay attention to what is found during an expedition below.

3 Ghostrunner

Much like the robotic ninja one plays as in Ghostrunner, this action-packed platformer evaded the eyes of many. However, this is a title that appreciators of precision combat in gameplay should check out. The controls are dialed in to feel natural and extremely satisfying.

The visuals are also stunning, making both the feel and sight of this game a joy to experience. The variety of enemies and special abilities gives it great replay value and makes it also an interesting game for speedrunning.

2 Planet Coaster: Console Edition

The much-loved theme park building game finally makes its arrival on the PS4. With infinite possibilities, due to the freedom and tools that one is given, players can now design and build the amusement park that they have always wanted.

Not only can gamers build elaborate, dangerous roller coasters, they can also custom-shape buildings of all kinds to suit their aesthetic needs. This is definitely one of the best ports of the year, and with a ton of content, Planet Coaster promises to be one of the best for 2021 as well.

1 Katamari Damacy REROLL

The uniquely bizarre game returns in a beautifully done remastered version. Katamari Damacy REROLL once more pulls players into the celestial escapades of the King of the Cosmos and his son, the Prince, as they roll up various structures and organisms to form pseudo-planets.

With updated graphics, refined controls, and a clean interface, players both familiar and unfamiliar with the original can have hours of fun ambling about the world. There is an unexplainable satisfaction that one gets from completing a level in this game; as if some sort of significant achievement in the universe has been obtained.
