With the success of the animated Castlevania and The Witcher live-action video game adaptations, it’s no surprise that Netflix has more in store. This excitement has spread rumors about fan-favorites like God of War, Elder Scrolls, and Legend of Zelda possibly getting adaptions on the streaming service. Sony Pictures Television and Hivemind Entertainment are working on a Final Fantasy XIV live-action which has a chance of being on Netflix.
However, Netflix confirmed many upcoming new video game adaptions and the next seasons of Castlevania and The Witcher. The most recent announcement was for the Assassin’s Creed live-action series that has fans hoping for a Witcher-like experience.
10 Assassin’s Creed
The Assassin’s Creed series by Ubisoft is one of the most well-known video game series. In 2016, the Assassin’s Creed movie had an unsuccessful reception. Neither Netflix nor Ubisoft has mentioned any details about the story or the protagonist. In an article on Ubisoft’s website, they claimed, “The deal includes multiple different series, the first of which will be a genre-bending live-action epic, while the others will be animated and anime adaptations.”
9 Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
This anime comes from Trigger Studio based on the Cyberpunk 2077 game by CD Projekt Red. Cyberpunk 2077 released in the Fall of 2020 and the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime is expected to arrive in 2022. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners takes place in Night City as well, but the story will be completely new while still revolving around concepts like body modification obsessions and the street-kid life path. This is the second video game adaption from the developer studio CD Project Red, the first is The Witcher.
8 Splinter Cell
Ubisoft and Netflix are working on an animated series for Splinter Cell from the Tom Clancy brand. The last Splinter Cell game released in 2013 and the animated show could revitalize the game.

7 The Division
The Division is another game from Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy brand that will be on Netflix. The Division will be a live-action movie. There isn’t much information on whether this will encompass stories from The Division games or if it will be inspired by the game. Like the game, it will be set in a post-apocalyptic New York City after a deadly pandemic kills millions and leaves the city in disarray. A short summary from Ubisoft explains the cast and crew involved in making the movie, no other information has been released.
6 Resident Evil
Resident Evil, the popular zombie games series from Capcom is coming to Netflix as an animated series called RESIDENT EVIL: Infinite Darkness. It will be a suspenseful horror-action anime aeries about Leon S Kennedy and Claire Redfield, the protagonists that first debuted in Resident Evil II. This series will come in time for Resident Evil‘s 25th anniversary. Not only that, but Netflix is also working on a live-action Resident Evil show that will cover a different story from the animated series.
5 The Witcher
The Witcher is a live-action show about Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter in a place where morality is questionable. The Witcher video game is an RPG developed by CD Projekt Red which was released in 2007 inspired by the books of Andrzej Sapkowski. Netflix confirmed that a second season is on the way. Netflix shared a part of the script of the story and hinted towards characters fans should expect to see. Along with that, Netflix has planned a prequel series for The Witcher called The Witcher: Blood Origin.
4 Devil May Cry
In 2018, Adi Shankar, the executive producer of Castlevania announced that a Devil May Cry animated series is happening. Shankar said that he considers the upcoming Devil May Cry series as a part of his “bootleg multiverse” along with Castlevania.
Fans on Reddit had found a Devil May Cry easter egg of Dante’s sword called the Rebellion in a scene from Castlevania season 3. However, there has been no mention by Capcom or Netflix on whether this is really in development or not.
3 Castlevania
Castlevania is an animated series which first released in 2017 and has had three successful seasons so far. The dramatic and confusing end to season 3 had fans predicting what season 4 may entail. Rest assured, season 4 is “turning out phenomenal“, according to director Samuel Deats. Deats also shared a few screenshots of their progress on the upcoming season. The screenshots are the faces of Sypha and Trevor, seemingly during or after a battle. There hasn’t been any major information shared about season 4 yet.
2 The Cuphead Show
Cuphead, an indie game by Studio MDHR from 2017, was inspired by old-timey cartoons from the 1930s. Now, it will have a series of its own. The Cuphead Show is a comedy-adventure about the two siblings, Cuphead and Mugman. In a preview earlier this year, Netflix revealed that this animated series will have a similar art-style as the game. Netflix has deleted the tweet that made this announcement, but they created a page for the show on the Netflix site.
1 Sonic the Hedgehog
Netflix announced on their NXOnNetflix Twitter account that a Sonic the Hedgehog 3D animated series is on its way.
