NPCs and questlines often intersect in ways players don’t expect in Cyberpunk 2077. The path to getting its secret ending is a long and winding one, and one of the necessary steps is completing Second Conflict.
Second Conflict is part of the side gig questline that centers around Johnny Silverhand, V’s constant companion in Cyberpunk 2077. Johnny’s got unfinished business, and he frequently requests V’s help in settling his grudges and reconnecting with old friends. Second Conflict takes place after Johnny’s started making progress in his endeavors, and plays out pretty differently based on one early player decision. Here’s how to complete the quest no matter what players chose way back in The Pickup.
Second Conflict is given to players after they successfully complete Holdin’ On, and tasks players with meeting Nancy at Johnny’s behest.
The Pickup is an early story quest that sees players getting a flathead mech from the Maelstrom gang. Things don’t exactly go well, as the gang’s leader Royce demands that V pays for the flathead again, and things can go a few different ways. Whether or not players should shoot Royce or pay him depends not just on what they want out of that mission, but how much of a challenge they want in Second Conflict. Whether or not Brick made it out of The Pickup alive also matters.
- If players shot Royce and Dum Dum in The Pickup and didn’t rescue Brick, they’ll be met by Patricia and have to fight through Maelstrom to rescue Nancy.
- If players reached a resolution with Royce and Dum Dum, they’ll have to sneak through Totentanz after reaching Nancy, as the Maelstrom enemies will become hostile.
- If it’s just Dum Dum there, he’ll be more willing to let V in to see Nancy.
- If Brick was rescued and Royce/Dum Dum were killed, Brick will be in charge. He’ll let players take Nancy away out of gratitude, a completely peaceful solution. This is why knowing how to rescue Brick is really important.
In the event a conflict is inevitable, players should prepare accordingly. As is the case with most of the game, powerful quickhacks are king here, letting players blast through the Maelstrom foes with relative ease. If stealth is required, head downstairs after getting Nancy’s data and immediately take a right into the men’s toilet. Hop out the window and sneak along the metal ledge, then wait until the guards at the next window turn away. Take them out, sneak down the corridor on the far left side, and take the door to the right. Take out the guards there and V is home free.
Don’t stress over the last decision in the quest, which requires choosing between Denny and Henry. This only effects who will play at a concert in the next job, and doesn’t impact the storyline. It’s not one of those decisions that will determine whether or not players can get the full Johnny Silverhand set.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
