Today, tragedy has struck with the announcement of voice actor Brad Venable having died at the age of 43. The cause of death has not been made public by his family, but friends and coworkers of the voice actor have shared the news of his passing.
Those who didn’t know him personally may have heard his voice in games such as Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Many would also likely recognize him from his roles as Griffon and Nightmare in Devil May Cry 5 and his work as Kostas, Nader, and Nardel in Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
Many of those who have worked with him have put out their thoughts about how wonderful it was to work with him as well as many other words celebrating his life. With a community as tightly knit as the voice acting community, there are many out there currently mourning this great loss.
Venable’s first well-known project was as a voice actor for World of Warcraft all the way back in 2004. He has since appeared in a variety of games from different studios, as well as working as a voice actor for anime. Some of these anime include Hunter x Hunter, Fairy Tail, Tokyo Ghoul, and the ever-popular Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Additionally, Venable appeared in games such as Pokemon Masters, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Astral Chain, and the Demon’s Souls remake.
His loss will be felt by many for some time, but many are celebrating how many lives he has touched, both inside and outside the voice acting industry. Those speaking in remembrance of him are telling the world about how he was a friend to everyone, and the sheer amount of kindness he had spread throughout his life.
Many have taken to Twitter to share their personal stories about interactions with Venable. Those who didn’t know him personally have been creating tributes to him with compilations of his voice acting roles, as well as sharing condolences Venables friends and family. Official Twitter accounts of games and studios that Brad Venable has worked with have also been posting tributes to him.
For many, this is an incredibly saddening way for 2021 to begin. As a voice actor and as a human being that has affected many lives, Brad Venable will truly be missed.
