To say that Cyberpunk 2077 got off to a rocky start would be a massive understatement. With a laundry list of bugs, glitches, and other technical issues, Cyberpunk 2077 is close to unplayable right now for many players. Although, perhaps one of the game’s most infamous, supposed glitch came in the form of how the player character V sleeps in-game.
The position in which V sleeps in Cyberpunk 2077 has been the subject of many memes online ever since it was first noticed. Considering how the entire game is played from a first person perspective, a lot of players found it incredibly odd how whenever V woke up after sleeping, they were sleeping on the bed perpendicularly. As though their chest is laying on top of the bed with their legs hanging off the side.
Luckily, thanks to a mod within Cyberpunk 2077 that allows the player’s perspective to swap back and forth between first-person and third-person, it finally shows what V is doing while they’re sleeping. While it makes some sense in terms of what they are doing in-game, it still looks fairly bizarre.
The fact is that V decides to consistently sleep horizontally on the bed as opposed to sleeping at a vertical angle. It would be one thing if the dystopic future featured in Cyberpunk 2077 included an inventive new mattress that allows the users to sleep horizontally. Perhaps even having an in-game ad featured in Cyberpunk 2077 talking about these inventive new mattresses, but the fact that the mattress still has a pillow and a blanket that lays vertically on the bed is still quite strange.
Thankfully, this does solve the great mystery as to why V is sleeping like this. For a long while, players had assumed that it was just another in a long line common bugs featured in Cyberpunk 2077, but now it’s clear that this was an intentional design choice made by CD Projekt Red and for better or for worse, it is how V is supposed to sleep in-game.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Cyberpunk 2077. It’s clear that the game in its current state is still very buggy, but much like The Witcher 3 before it, Cyberpunk 2077 has the potential to fix all of the glaring issues that currently plague the game. Though, hopefully that day comes sooner rather than later given how extensive the bugs and glitches there are in the game. Only time will tell.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions currently in development.
