Intense, secretive, and unforgiving, Sebille is one of the most fascinating characters in Divinity: Original Sin 2. A former slave once forced to hunt and kill her elven brethren, she broke free from her magical chains and now seeks vengeance. Her story is filled with intriguing twists and revelations about her own identity.
Sebille makes a great addition to any Divinity party, but she’s also a fantastic choice for a starting character. With the torturous choices the player must make for her, Sebille’s tale is dark, riveting, and never dull. Here are ten tips for making the most out of this powerful protagonist.
10 Use Racial Skills
Sebille’s heritage provides plenty of useful perks. As with any playable elf, Sebille comes equipped with Corpse Eater, allowing her to gain information by consuming body parts. Through this method, she can gain lore, access quests, and learn skills early on.
The skill Flesh Sacrifice, meanwhile, allows Sebille to gain one AP and a 10% damage boost at the cost of 6 points of Constitution. It makes her a powerhouse in battle, but it does render her a bit fragile, so keep a healer close if she uses this skill.
9 Choose Her Class
By default, Sebille is a Rogue, a class full of useful and deadly skills. However, she can be just as useful in several other classes. Flesh Sacrifice allows her to hit harder and more often, making her an excellent Fighter or Knight.
All in all, Sebille is incredibly versatile, especially since her Corpse Eater talent also gives her free access to various skills. Don’t feel boxed in by her default class: she’s brilliant as a rogue, but there are plenty of other roles she can excel in.
8 Pick Traveling Companions
From a tactical standpoint, any of the other Origin characters make great additions to Sebille’s party. However, when it comes to story, some characters add additional layers to Sebille’s tale and allow players to get to know this guarded elf.
One vital NPC acts as a major antagonist for both Sebille and the Red Prince, making the two of them an excellent traveling pair. Ifan ben-Mezd’s quest overlaps with Sebille’s as well, making him another good choice for the party.
7 Be Careful With Stingtail
A Lizard Dreamer in Fort Joy, Stingtail plays an essential role in Sebille’s quest—however, she will kill him once their talk is over. Furthermore, if the player rats out Stingtail for his thievery, he may die before any quest dialogue can be initiated.
When playing as Sebille, it’s important not to let someone else knife Stingtail before she can speak to him—but also to be mindful of any other open quests involving him. Despite appearances, he’s an important character; be sure he doesn’t die prematurely.
6 Pay Attention To Race Relations
In a game where it’s important to talk to everyone, Sebille’s ancestry can come in handy with other elves: they are more likely to trust her, spilling secrets or giving access to certain areas.
On the other hand, Sebille is wary of lizards, considering who enslaved her. If the player starts as her, Sebille won’t object to taking the Red Prince along, but keep an eye on her when he speaks with his kin. She might have some choice words for lizard NPCs, so watch for potential conflict.
5 Break The Shackles
Sebille’s innate Source skill rids her of most negative status effects, taking only two turns to recharge. Slowed, Crippled, Chilled, Shocked, Suffocating, Atrophy, Plague, Diseased, and Shackles of Pain can all be removed with this spell. It can even be cast when Silenced, eliminating the effect.
This skill effectively makes it impossible to incapacitate Sebille, and is one of the reasons she’s such a force to be reckoned with. Spend a Source point, and keep her moving and attacking at full strength.
4 Watch Her Mouth
Sebille isn’t one to mince words. As such, her unique dialogue options run the gamut from innocent to ominous to extremely biting. Not all NPCs take kindly to her remarks. A few even seek physical retribution for her insults—some of whom are useful characters.
Unique dialogue options give the game its flavor and help players get to know the characters, so this doesn’t mean Sebille should never use hers. However, it might be a good idea to make a quick save before she does—just in case.
3 Invest In Persuasion
On a similar note, when Sebille’s sharp tongue and penchant for making enemies do get her into trouble, there are times when she can talk herself out of it. Having a high persuasion skill is helpful for players who prefer to have some level of choice in who they fight and when.
Persuasion is helpful for any starting character, but comes in particularly handy when playing as Sebille. With it, she can talk herself out of fights as deftly as she talks herself into them.
2 Keep Saheila Alive
A young elf first encountered in Fort Joy, Saheila is essential to Sebille’s story—however, there are several points where she can potentially die. Though it is still possible to complete Sebille’s quest with Saheila dead, it is much easier and more satisfying if she remains breathing.
The quest “The Elven Seer,” poses the greatest challenge to Saheila’s survival, since she can be caught in the crossfire during battle. Keep an eye on her health during the fight with Roost Anlon, and make sure Saheila returns alive.
1 Understand The Mother Tree
Sebille’s quest culminates on the Nameless Isle. She must decide whether to submit herself to the Mother Tree, or to destroy it and free elvenkind from its grasp. It’s one of the most agonizing choices in the game, and both options have sinister implications for Sebille’s and Rivellon’s future.
The Mother Tree’s destruction enrages several NPCs, and means huge upheaval for elven society. Conversely, depending on how the player wants to direct Sebille’s character arc, submitting to the Mother Tree might feel wrong, after she went through so much to be free.
