Sword kits are usually found at Shrines of Honor deep within Tsushima. Through this short guide, we will show you how you can get some of the coolest sword kits and strike fear into the Mongol hordes.

Updated on January 9, 2021, by Reyadh Rahaman: A warrior’s sword is an extension of themself. If left in rags or dressed as a beggar, despite what one wears on the rest of their body, they could appear lowly or disrespectful to their blade. Would a lord wear rags? Only to fool the Mongols. Then to slay them all.

There is a great variety of awesome sword kits to find in the beautiful and bountiful lands of Tsushima. Regardless of one’s taste in color or design, there’s sure to be one for every theme, costume, apparel, or guise one dons. However, a few stand out as the most dynamic, the most visually powerful, and possibly the most fashionable.

15 Izanami’s Grief

Rage is akin to flame, it can be said. Izanami’s Grief represents the notion that “The fire of a warrior’s fury cannot be contained.” All such a blaze needs to ignite is fuel and a spark — fuel like one’s home drowning in the Mongol menace and a spark like anger born from witnessing the death of comrades and kin. Burn all of one’s foes. Like wildfire, ever untamed. Spares not even one.

This kit can be acquired from completing one of the Mythic Tales. The quest “The Undying Flame” can be started at the base of Mount Jogaku and will lead Jin on a journey through deathly chilling snowfalls. If he strays too far from fire for too long on this leg of his adventure, he’ll freeze. This unique mechanic is only found in this quest and represents man’s need for fire; both within and without.

14 Moon Bear’s Paw

This is a sword kit “For a samurai who is both playful and deadly,” much like a bear from which part of the sheath is likely made. The primal, earthen nature of this kit looks great with certain dark clothing if one cares for a more ghostly look. Hunter in the night. Pounce like the most savage beast. Blood in the moonlight.

From Akashima Village, head straight east, though the Hakutaku Forest, until one reaches the coast. If the player has traveled in a straight line from the village, they should see a Pillar of Honor standing proudly on a hill overlooking the waves. This is where one can find Moon Bear’s Paw, resting like a bear in hibernation, soon to awaken and satisfy its hunger.

13 Sea Dragon’s Wing

Those needing an oceanic design should be sure to pick up Sea Dragon’s Wing, especially if they need to “Summon the fierce courage of a dragon.” Dragons are a symbol of power, more force of nature than a tangible beast. Embolden oneself. Like a drake from the azure. Each slash a great wave.

This one is thankfully not too hard to find, as it can be bought from any merchant if one has enough money. The cloth around the katana’s scabbard resembles a wing, making dragon-themed clothing a great fit, especially if one adopts a sea motif as well.

12 Emperor’s Tears

As opposed to western culture, in the east, white is the color of death instead of black. It is also the color of snow, which is seen as pure and clean, though fleeting. Emperor’s Tears is the ideal kit for those “Pure of purpose, prepared to face death.” Lordly tears like snow. Fall from bold, unclouded eyes. Ever unflinching.

Here’s another that can be obtained from a merchant with adequate currency. If Jin has also met the White dye merchant atop the peak of Wanderer’s pass in the Kashine prefecture, he will soon recognize the potential aesthetic appeal that can be had by combining such pure, pale dyes and this marvelous sword kit.

11 Prowling Tiger

Few sword kits are more dynamic and fierce as Prowling Tiger. Mongols can see Jin coming from a mile away if he wears this, as it is “the sign of a true predator,” one intent to feast upon their foes openly, for none can stop them from their unending hunt. Vibrant, aggressive. An unbowing warrior. Leaves a wake of blood.

Despite the rare nature of the components to make it, some may be surprised to find this kit at any common merchant. Though, it can be argued that its design was created from a clever use of dyes as opposed to real tiger fur. Regardless, it is a challenge to all swordsmen within sight.

10 Warrior’s Brush

“Like a master calligrapher’s brush stroke, written in blood.” Those are the words that grace this beautiful sword kit. This weapon looks perfect on a warrior dressed in the white color of death and can be easily found during act one.

This sword kit is located at the Ariake Pillar of Honor inside of the Ariake Prefecture. To get to it, Jin must climb the peninsula overlooking the sibling rocks. This sword kit may have a basic design, but sometimes simplicity is what makes things great.

9 Genbu’s Darkness

As stated by the description of the sword kit, this is “for warriors who celebrate the shadows.” With its dark, cloudlike design, this weapon is the perfect companion for those who love to hide in darkness, stalking the Mongol invaders & cutting them down from the dark reaches of Tsushima.

This sword kit can be found during act one in the scorched field north of the First General’s Field, at the Komoda Pillar of Honor. It’s almost poetic that such a magnificent kit is found where death had once come over the land.

8 Mamushi Venom

The Mamushi Venom sword kit is a snake hidden in the grass, waiting to lash out at its prey. This sword kit’s description reads, “your blades strike home with venomous precision.”

So true for a samurai that it feels right holding it. This weapon kit can be found at the second Azamo Pillar of Honor in act one, resting at the Sakimori Overlook.

7 Twilight Oni

Depicting the wild greens that traditionally envelope the skin of the Oni, this sword kit is perfect to reflect the demon resting within. Some peasants in the game react at though Jin fights like a demon and this weapon kit will make that all the truer.

It is appropriate that this sword kit’s description reads, “as night falls, death approaches.” This kit can be found in act one as well in the Azamo region within Wakou Island at the first Azamo Pillar of Honor.

6 Azure Dragon

This weapon kit is the “signature of the wise warrior who fights for peace and plenty,” which is why it is fitting for Jin. You spend the game trying to take back your homeland from the Mongol horde to bring peace back to the locals who now hide in fear.

This weapon kit features beautiful blues with gold bands that make it a magnificent masterpiece. It can be found during act three at the first Kin Pillar of Honor, which is northeast of Kin Village.

5 Sly Tanuki

There’s actually a Sly Cooper easter egg in Ghost of Tsushima. The Sly Tanuki is a part of that cosplay and acts as the tail of the thievius raccoon. Not only that, but it makes for a fine sheath to house your sword and states that it is “for the samurai who knows neither friend nor foe… only destruction.”

This amazing sword kit can be found during act three, which is a little late in the game, but still worth it. It is located at the second Kin Pillar of Honor north of the Iwai Village Peninsula. Make sure to complete the getup to gain a trophy while you’re at it.

4 Shogun’s Storm

With this sword kit in hand, you can “sweep your enemies aside with righteous fury.” Pierce the night sky with your glinting blade and cut down any Mongols in sight.

This sword kit resonates with electric power, so much that the hilt looks like it has lightning streaking down it. This sword kit can be found in the third act and is located at the Sago Pillar of Honor, west of the Bitter Hills.

3 Heavenly Falcon

The skies grow dark as the falcon of the night drops from the sky to devour its prey, Jin launching himself from the rooftops to assassinate the invading Mongols below. This sword kit is designed to mimic the feather of a deadly bird who strikes its prey with fierce talons, which is why it is appropriate that its description reads:

“Strike without warning like the hunter of the skies.” This sword kit is a reward for completing the Heavenly Strike mythic tale and is a great reminder of the enemies fought to obtain it.

2 Island’s Keeper

This weapon is perfect for Jin and the description reminds us all of what he is doing. This sword kit states it is “for warriors who will sacrifice everything for their homes.” Jin’s message rings true through this blade, as everything he knows has been lost and he brings the fight back to the Mongols who stole it.

This is another sword kit that can’t be found until act three. It is located at the Jogaku Pillar of Honor by the lake near Jogaku Temple.

1 Omukade’s Revenge

“Inhuman strength and venomous onslaught” are what accompany this sword kit as Jin strikes his foes down with the heart of a true warrior. The beautiful reds, blues, and yellows of this sword kit are designed in a way that anyone can appreciate.

It is found by completing the Spirit of Yarikawa’s Vengeance mythic tale. The fight for this kit is well worth it to show of the style and flair of a sword kit that anyone in Tsushima should fear.
