Call of Duty: Warzone MAC-10 Blueprint Accused Of Being Pay-To-Win

Recently, fans and content creators have been discussing the current state of Call of Duty: Warzone. While there are several balance issues within the game, a recent update has provoked a shift in the community’s dialogue. Now, Call of Duty: Warzone players are discussing how one of their favorite games is now showing signs of being pay-to-win.

While many mobile titles, online MMORPGs, and even the occasional mainstream game gets accused of pay-to-win behavior, it usually comes sooner rather than later. Now, several months after the release of Call of Duty: Warzone, players are whispering about weapon blueprints that are stronger than other guns and only available through a microtransaction purchase.

In Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1, the developers introduced the MAC-10 SMG and DMR Tactical Rifle. When both of these weapons were given to players free through the battle pass, it changed the meta in massive ways causing the community to call for a developer nerf. While both the weapons have been rebalanced, a recent blueprint may have undone whatever work the developers put in place. In the in-game store, players can purchase a blueprint called “Gallantry,” which has stats that are far above the base version of the gun. This blueprint seems unaffected by the nerf and can only be obtained by a microtransaction.

Call of Duty: Warzone YouTuber and Twitch streamer NICKMERCS has publicly called out the weapon as a pay-to-win addition. He describes the implications of the weapon and points out that this is a band trend for the developers to follow. Although NICKMERCS is a fan of the MAC-10, he points out that not fixing this blueprint is not a good look for the company.

NICKMERCS does give the developers the benefit of the doubt, saying that it is “obviously just a mistake,” but he can not be certain. He hopes that the team will fix the weapon soon and clean up the problem before it looks like an unfair money grab.

Other players on social media have called out Call of Duty: Warzone for their lack-luster fix to the DMR problem. As community frustration already revolves around the two weapons, the skins only further the problem and appear as a pay-to-win option within the game. Without a definite response from the developers, fans continue to call out the two weapons online through social media.

This is not the first time that fans have felt this way about in-game content. Previously, Call of Duty: Warzone fans claimed the same thing about the Bruen and Grau until a nerf reduced both weapons below the meta standard. If it is a mistake, the community will be wanting a fix sooner rather than later.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
