Crunchyroll Announces New Dubs For The Winter Anime Season

Anime streaming service Crunchyroll has announced its Winter 2021 lineup of international dubs, making even more shows accessible to anime fans around the world. Crunchyroll announced that new international dubs in Spanish, Portuguese, French, and German are on the way for four more shows. This is on top of the series already dubbed internationally by the streaming service.

The shows to look out for are The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter,  Dr. STONE season 2, BURN THE WITCH, and So I’m a Spider, So What?. Though this announcement was heavily focused on highlighting the international dubs, they are also adding some series to their list of English dubbed anime. Bungo Stray Dogs WAN! and Re:ZERO -Starting Life In Another World- season 2 are confirmed in addition to the previously mentioned series.

Their Winter 2021 Anime Lineup was highly anticipated and also recently released. It includes continuations of hit shows like Laid Back Camp season 2, Jujutsu KaisenThat Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime season 2, and the long-awaited final season of Attack On Titan‘s English dub. Other new releases include Azur LaneSlow Ahead, Dr. Ramune Mysterious Disease Specialist, and WAVE!! -Let’s go surfing!!-.

Crunchyroll passed over 3 million paid subscribers all over the world in 2020. They have over 1000 anime titles available to stream, as well as over ten Crunchyroll Originals that premiered last year. Part of why Crunchyroll has taken the lead as the top anime streaming service is their strong support for simulcasting. This means that titles are available and dubbed or subtitled immediately after they air in Japan which of course appeals to anime fans who don’t want to have to wait for their favorite shows.

Recently, Crunchyroll was bought by Sony’s Funimation group for $1.75 billion. Previously, Crunchyroll was owned by AT&T’s WarnerMedia and the Funimation versus Crunchyroll rivalry was very strong. It was previously reported by Variety that they were looking to sell Crunchyroll for a minimum of $1 billion and the deal was made in December. The deal seems to not yet have had a strong effect on their Winter 2021 Anime Lineup, but fans will have to see what the future holds for upcoming seasons.
