Valorant Officially Confirms New Agent With Episode 2 Cinematic

Back in early December, Valorant‘s upcoming fourteenth agent leaked before Riot Games could give him a proper reveal. Said leak revealed everything important about Valorant‘s upcoming character, such as his name and every last one of his abilities. At the time, what the leak claimed needed to be taken with a grain of salt because the information it provided was translated from Russian by fans. However, Valorant‘s latest promotion just confirmed everything the leak revealed is true.

Valorant developer Riot Games released a new cinematic today for Valorant‘s approaching Episode 2 update, and this cinematic officially reveals Agent 14, whose name is Yoru. In the cinematic, Yoru teams up with U.K. agent Phoenix to disable a Spike guarded by agents Cypher, Viper, and Jett. The duo ends up prevailing in the end, but more importantly, the cinematic shows off the majority of Yoru’s new abilities in action, confirming, as mentioned, everything revealed in the leak.

After the cinematic aired, Riot Games also went ahead and discussed what Yoru was all about. He is a Japanese agent and Valorant‘s fifth duelist character, the others being Phoenix, Jett, Raze, and Reyna. Riot Games focused Yoru’s fighting style on stealthy infiltration when creating him and solidified the concept by giving him dimension-hopping abilities. Like other duelists, Yoru uses these powers to break off from his team and do damage behind enemy lines.

Even though Yoru is a duelist, he plays differently from others in his category, like Reyna and Raze. They typically prefer to blitz their opponents head-on with the powers or tools they have at their disposal. However, Yoru’s stealthy style actually sees him using much more deceptive tactics to get his kills. With that in mind, he should offer something of a breath of fresh air when he arrives. Hopefully, his unorthodox style doesn’t get in the way of him keeping up with his peers.

Valorant‘s Episode 2 launches on Tuesday, January 12, so players only have a few days left to wait for it. When it arrives, it will bring Yoru with it, of course, along with the usual updates, such as new cosmetics and a new battle pass. Riot Games planned on giving Valorant a new map with every Episode update, but the controversial Icebox was released early in Episode 1 to meet with player demands for a new map. Riot has a new arena in development, but it won’t arrive on the same day as Episode 2.

Valorant is available on PC.
