Few games in history can boast the longevity, scope, and passionate fan base that EVE Online has maintained over the years. With such a strong emphasis on achieving goals, expanding the universe, and interaction with an active community, it is often a fascinating game to reflect on.
As we begin our new year, long time Developers CCP Games has decided to reinforce this idea of reflection, by encouraging players to take a look at the recent past and all that gamers have accomplished, achieved, and endured throughout the past 12 months. The official EVE Online Twitter account shared a fun and personal method to accomplish this.

CCP Games announced that eligible players will receive personal videos chronicling all of their victories, achievements and activities for the year 2020, within New Eden. Interested gamers should note that eligibility is based on having a non-deleted player character that was active between December 1st, 2019 and December 1st, 2020. Players who wish to obtain this video must also have had an active Omega subscription in order for the retrospective video to be generated.
First released in 2003, Eve Online is now entering its 18th year of service, giving it the unique honor of the game possibly being older then some of its players. As one of the longest-running MMOs, the impressive space simulation has also seen its share of controversies over the years, most recently a New Year’s battle destroying over $340,000 worth of in game assets.
Potential loss and strife aside, the active player base has also built strong communities with a sense of purpose, including aiding scientists in Covid-19 research. With almost two decades worth of history and player base, the MMO still has over 300,000 players a month take to the stars in search of adventure. It will be fascinating to see if these reflection videos end up inspiring players to continue their journey in the stars for more years to come.
