With the recent launch of next-gen consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, game developers have shifted their focus on upgrading current games or optimizing their future titles to capitalize on each platform’s hardware capacities. This includes the indie developer of Coreupt, an upcoming fighting game, who has recently released new videos that show off how his latest characters move and attack when rendered for next-gen gaming.
Drawing a small following due to its independent development process, not much information is yet known about Coreupt. All fans know is that the game will be free-to-play, is currently being developed for PC and next-generation consoles, and is backed by Rogue Games Inc., the publishing company behind popular indie titles such as Fisti-Fluffs, Super Glitch Dash, Arcanium: Rise of Akhan, and more. Without a solid date for when the game will launch to the public, fans have been left with no choice but to follow the game’s developer, Jesse Wright, on social media, for gameplay reveals and updates.
Just recently, Wright posted several new gameplay videos on Twitter that provided snippets of the fighting action in Coreupt. In one video, he focuses on two of his characters, Sawn Off and Gatling. Stating that the video’s main purpose was to show off the game’s pacing, he also exhibits Sawn Off’s unique cross-up move, a well-known fighting game tactic that confuses players on which direction to face their foe.
In another Twitter video, Wright also showcases Coreupt‘s iconic fighting game character Winry’s special attacks after using one of her spacing combos on her opponent, Gatling. After doing a series of attacks and using Gatling as a jump-off point, Winry is seen shooting projectiles from each of her guns. With the second shot clearly being much larger than the first, it is possible that these special attacks can only be done after Winry’s spacing combo.
As Wright continues to share more Coreupt gameplay footage on his social media, fans have been replying to the Twitter threads, clamoring for the game’s release date. Though not revealing anything concrete, Wright shared on January 1, 2021, that a demo or beta is coming. In the post, the demo already has Winry, Gatling, and Destroy already included in the line-up, and he asks fans who else they want to try out during the beta. With a unique cast of characters, and fast-paced fighting game action, Coreupt looks to be one of the most compelling indie games to hit next-gen platforms.
Coreupt is currently being developed for PC and next-generation consoles.
