It’s been barely a few days since the launch of the Monster Hunter Rise demo, and fans have already taken to social media to share content they have created around the game. While some try out the new Monster Hunter Rise weapon moves and hunt monsters, a certain YouTube channel has gone in-depth and recorded a video that showcases the demo’s frame rate numbers and resolution.
YouTube channel VGTech has a flurry of videos that test the frame rates and performance of many well-known games. The channel has published frame rate test videos of popular PlayStation 5 games such as Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima, and more. It also has footage that focuses on well-known Xbox Series games and Switch titles. Its latest one for the Nintendo portable console is the Monster Hunter Rise demo.
In the 12-minute video, VGTech goes through the demo in solo and multiplayer modes. During solo mode, the hunter is shown hunting the Arzuros, the Rathian, and the newly revealed Mizutsune. Without other human players and just with the Palico and Palamute, the frame rate and frame time of the demo proves to be stable and solid. The frame rate keeps steady at 30 FPS all throughout the hunter’s solo hunting, but the frame time does experience some slight dips in performance. This is especially true when the hunter is jumping from heights, switching screens, or implementing the new Monster Hunter Rise feature of Wyvern Riding. This may be due to the combination of fast monster movement and the game’s special effects.
Later on in the video, VGTech keeps the hunt going, but switches to multiplayer mode. With three additional human players in the mix, the frame rate is still fairly steady at 30 FPS, but goes slightly up and down during the thick of the hunt. However, the FPS does not even go below 28-29 FPS, showcasing how steady the Monster Hunter Rise demo‘s performance is. However, the frame time stutters a bit more during multiplayer, showing dips every few frames to compensate for the demo’s smooth gameplay and transitions.
VGTech also mentions the resolution of the demo during docked and portable modes. When docked, the game’s resolution is at 1344×756, with the UI at 1920×1080. When in portable mode, the resolution is at around 960×540 and the UI at 1280×720. Hopefully, the game will have the same great performance at launch, and fans won’t have a repeat of the Nintendo server lag they encountered when they were first downloading the demo.
Monster Hunter Rise will be released on March 26, 2021 for the Nintendo Switch.
