Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Teases New Zombies Map With Cryptic Image

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies got off to a strong start with Die Maschine, and Treyarch is hoping to continue the mode’s momentum with the release of its next map. It seems that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players can expect info on this upcoming location soon as well, with Treyarch already rolling out teasers.

With the next Zombies map arriving in Season 2, Treyarch has over a month to tease players about the next location and what it will include. Rumored to be called Firebase Z and include pieces of the classic Call of Duty: World at War map Shi No Numa, the first major teaser for the location was shown earlier today. Showing an overhead view of the map, the rumors seem to be true, as the next location certainly to be set in a Vietnam firebase.

While it is hard to make out specific details regarding the features of the next Zombies map, as the image is in black and white, writing on the photo gives players an understanding as to what is being shown. Addressed to returning Zombies character Samantha Maxis, the former antagonist has been sent a letter from her Russian contact detailing the new Omega base. Below the writing that says “this is the place I spoke of,” a Shi No Numa-like building can be seen.

Further, the contact points out a building where “the portal is maintained to the Dark Aether,” indicating that players will be traveling to the colorful reality once again in the next Zombies map. Beyond this, though, everything else is speculation. However, with the perk Tombstone Soda confirmed to be coming to the game at some point soon, players may see it show up for the first time in this DLC location.

The image also says “more soon” in the corner, indicating that Treyarch will be sharing more teasers in the lead-up to the map’s release. With Treyarch also teasing that news is coming for Zombies fans to celebrate 115 Day, it is possible that a full gameplay trailer will be shared for the map on January 15. With players heavily enjoying the mechanics of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies, but quickly growing tired of only being able to play on Die Maschine, the arrival of this new map is perfectly timed.

With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War recently kicking off a trial period where Zombies is free-to-play, a first for the series, it can be expected that Treyarch continues to innovate upon the mode with this next map. From new weapons and mini bosses to a fresh Easter egg quest, Zombies fans have a big reason to be excited.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
