With Hitman 3 coming later this month, aficionados of IO Interactive’s iconic stealth-action series are eager to finally jump into the climactic chapter of the studio’s World of Assassination trilogy. With the sequel’s release imminent, players are likely wondering what they’ll get if they go for one of the game’s more expensive special editions, and thanks to IO’s Community Developer Clemens Koch, they can now get a better look at the game’s priciest copy.
Showcased in a new breakdown over on the PlayStation YouTube channel, the Hitman 3 Deluxe Edition looks to be as much an ode to the character’s newest game as it is to his past, featuring unique in-game items, soundtracks, and more. The edition will be $79.99 and will be available alongside the regular edition on January 20, 2021.
Presented by Koch, the video goes over exactly what each piece of the Deluxe Edition will offer, beginning with, of course, the base game. On top of that, players will also get three “Deluxe” Escalation contracts, which will offer additional objectives in three of the title’s maps. Each contract will allegedly unlock outfits and items, with the Koch revealing that they will come from prior Hitman games. One is the gold devil suit from Hitman: Blood Money‘s A Dance with the Devil mission, the second is from the Belingford Manor in Hitman Contracts, and the third is the Red Dragon Triad outfit from Hitman: Codename 47.
The edition will also come with director’s commentary by Mattias Engström, which will introduce the game’s levels and offer some insight into the creative process behind each. Players will also get the soundtracks for Hitman, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3, allowing them to listen to the music of each entry in the World of Assassination trilogy. Finally, the Deluxe Edition also offers an artbook titled “The World of Hitman,” which showcases artistic renditions of the game’s various locations alongside details pertaining to lore, characters, and more.
It looks to be a comprehensive package for those who love the world of Hitman and want to invest even more into the final chapter of Agent 47’s newest story. It seems this next release could be the last fans see of the stoic bald assassin for quite some time as well, with IO Interactive announcing it will be working on a James Bond game titled Project 007 following its work on Hitman 3. The developers will be going out with a bang, however, with the third iteration of the reboot trilogy promising 6 new maps, tons of fresh assassination methods, and even a VR mode.
Hitman 3 will be available on January 20 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
