Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is never lacking in content, with a plethora of mini-games to occupy the player’s time. One of the enjoyable diversions in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the mini-game of fishing.
To unlock the option to fish, players must first reach settlement level 2 and construct the “Fishing Hut” located slightly north of the dock in Raventhorpe. After constructing the Fishing Hut, the option to equip a fishing line will now appear on the action wheel.
Once the Fishing Hut has been constructed, players will unlock fishing deliveries. Fishing deliveries act similarly to the hunting altars, and allow Eivor to trade specific fish at the hut for various rewards including tattoo designs, crafting materials, and armor runes.
To begin fishing, find a body of water that is sufficiently populated with fish. Equip the fishing line through the action wheel and follow the prompt to aim the line. A white circle will now appear, showing the player where the line will be cast. Once the player selects a location, cast the line and wait for a fish to bite.
An effective way to see whether Eivor’s line has the attention of any fish is by spamming the Odin sight ability. When activated, this ability should outline all the fish in the player’s immediate proximity.
When a fish finally bites the line, it will be immediately apparent by the vibration in the controller on consoles, and visually by the fish temporarily jumping out of water. To reel the fish in, press R2/RT on consoles and SPACE on PC. The player will now have to pull the lure towards Eivor while mashing X/A on consoles or SPACE on PC. Once the fish is caught, it will be added to the player’s inventory and can be traded in at any point.
To find specific fish across Valhalla‘s England, players can purchase the three volumes of “Fantastic Fish and Where to Find Them” at various shop vendors across the major cities. If a specific fish is not spawning at a designated location, it is recommended to pass the time through the meditate option on the action wheel. Players have also noted that in several locations fish do not appear to spawn when it is raining.
While most quests will require Eivor to catch fish with a fishing line, in some cases the player can simply opt for shooting the fish with a bow. For the various hunting altars scattered around England, fish can be caught with either a line or bow, while several mission-specific tasks and the “Good Catch” trophy/achievement is only awarded for catching fish with a line.
