Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Update 1.1.1 Adds Quality of Life Fixes

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has been out for a few months now and despite a rich story and some impressive graphics, the game has suffered from a surprising number of bugs. While it seems most of these bugs are mere annoyances and haven’t caused as much of an uproar as bugs experienced in Cyberpunk 2077, there are still plenty of gamers who have put their journeys on hold in the Anglo-Saxon territories because of frustrating bugs. Ubisoft’s latest update hopes to address the majority of the issues so Assassin’s Creed Valhalla can become a smoother, more enjoyable experience.

Ubisoft has discussed upcoming updates for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and announced the latest update, 1.1.1, yesterday. The update seems primarily focused on bug fixes and quality of life changes and doesn’t really add many new features to the game for players to experiment with. While some common requests haven’t been implemented, like the ability to change the look of Eivor’s equipment regardless of what he actually has equipped, there are more than enough patches here to keep fans satisfied until the next update in February.

Update 1.1.1 is a hefty one, especially on the Xbox Series X|S with a size of 7.5 GB. One of the largest sections of fixes centers around bugs in quests and side activities. There are 37 fixes in this section alone which address issues ranging from quest completion in Road to Harmatia and The Prodigal Prince to issues with boars disappearing and bosses getting stuck. There’s also a patch for players who kept getting Online Server Errors when trying to save.

Other areas in the update that received the most attention are NPC issues and problems with the user interface. Guards will now definitely be hostile when Eivor chucks oil jars at their buddies, and players can no longer negate fall damage by opening the menu just before hitting the ground. The children in the game have received a patch that keeps their faces from distorting in photo mode, though this isn’t the first bug to affect Anglo-Saxon children.

Overall the update puts in some good work toward making Assassin’s Creed Valhalla a more streamlined experience for everyone. Immediate reactions to the update announcement were mostly positive though some players are still complaining about the Yule Festival bug that causes Eivor’s quiver to reset to level one. Though there is a documented fix for the quiver issue, it hasn’t worked for everyone and some players were hoping to see it specifically addressed in update 1.1.1. Players can cross their fingers and hope it might be included in the February Seasonal Content update which will introduce river raiding.

Update 1.1.1 hits today for all platforms at 1pm CET, 7 am ET, 4 am PT, and 11 am AEDT.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
