Fallout: New Vegas is among the greatest Fallout games ever made in the eyes of both critics and fans. Despite the game releasing with some problematic glitches and bugs, New Vegas was praised for its overall gameplay and story, having some of the strongest writing of all the Fallout games.
While the base game is beloved by many, there are plenty of fans that enjoy playing the game with various different mods. There are some mods that are small, simply adding a single enemy or weapon, but there are also a good collection of mods for the game that alters the New Vegas experience.
10 Underground Hideout
This is a mod that has been made for other Fallout games. Those who want their own place to chill in and prepare for facing the world around them would love the Underground Hideout mod, which adds a personal vault for the player located West of Spring Mt. Ranch State Park next to a boulder and pond.
The facility features an armory, a weapons wall, and ammo sorters so players can get the right gear before going back to the surface. It is also companion-friendly.
9 TitanFallout
Robots are a lot of fun on their own, but it would be even cooler if players could actually control them as well. In TitanFallout, this is made possible. Upon opening the game with the mod installed, players will be given an option as to whether they would like to start with the robots or work to achieve the perk.
Once achieved, however, these titans can be summoned and controlled by the player. If players don’t feel like controlling their new robot companion, they can allow the robot to roam the perimeter around the player and beat up any enemies it sees.
8 New Vegas Bounties
For those who enjoy the action of New Vegas, they may enjoy taking on wild jobs in the series of mods known as New Vegas Bounties. The three installments of the mod each have their own set of quests. Each quest tasks the player with hunting down outlaws in the Mojave Wasteland.
The mod purposely designs these outlaws to each have boss-like qualities so that they are difficult to finish off. It also has fully-voiced dialogue, which allows players to feel like they are taking the step from playing a mod to playing an expansion.
7 Nipton Rebuilt
If players are looking for some power over a territory, how about becoming mayor of Nipton? In the mod Nipton Rebuilt, players are automatically placed as the individual in charge and can start making changes to the town.
There are some new buildings that players can explore right away and plenty of more can be built by going to the Town Hall and approving them to be built. The player will also be giving a human companion that is fully-voiced to help in the rebuild. Plus, there is a new radio station, new weapons, and more.
6 Wasteland Defense
Let’s go from running a town to building a fort. In the Wasteland Defense mod, players can build their own fort and bolster it with various defense mechanisms and a ton of different objects to really make this fort a home. Players can recruit guards to fight back against enemy raiders who dare try to bring the fort down.
There’s also a market system that gives gamers the ability to purchase various defense tools and necessities. There are various other systems that can be implemented involving light, power, and scavengers.
5 The Inheritance
From the makers of New Vegas Bounties comes another quest-based mod called The Inheritance. The Courier has been contacted by a dying man who has asked them to deliver a mysterious package for him.
Unfortunately, this puts The Courier in a position where they’ll need to deal with people maliciously looking to claim it. The mod includes more than a thousand lines in dialogue, a central quest that delves into many side quests, and a lot of action. Compared to the creator’s previous mod, it is a lot more serious in tone.
4 A World of Pain
Those looking for a difficulty-boost to New Vegas should look at getting into A World of Pain. With this mod, the world now has 170 new locations for players to explore but with the heightened intensity of harder enemies in these areas.
In addition, there is an Underground Complex that has a set of quests to complete with voiced NPCs, enemies, and vendors. On top of all of this, players can get some help dealing with harder enemies by buying Mark II weapons, armor, and items.
3 Project Nevada
Fans of the Fallout 3 Wanderer’s Edition mod will be happy to know that the team behind that made Project Nevada. This mod is meant to enhance the experience of the game through four different modules that can be installed separately or be used all at once.
The Cyberware module can upgrade a player’s body so their stats are enhanced. The Rebalance module makes the game harder but not impossible either. The Equipment module brings new weapons and armor. The Core module includes all three of these, plus other gameplay enhancements.
2 DUST Survival Simulator
For those who enjoy survival games, how about a survival twist on New Vegas? DUST Survival Simulator is a mod in which the game as players know it is completely overhauled to better reflect a fight for survival in an apocalyptic wasteland.
Taking place 20 years after the story of New Vegas, DUST puts players in a world where all they must do is survive with new combat, loot, enemies, and more. The ultimate goal is to survive long enough in order to escape the Mojave using key observations found and recorded during the experience.
1 New California
Want a mod that gives players a completely new experience with almost no ties to the vanilla game? Fallout: New California is a good place to start. Now taking place in the republic of California, players take on the role of a kid from Vault 18 who is trying to survive in the San Bernandino mountains.
There is a mainline story along with a few side quests surrounding a war between many groups, including the Super Mutant Army and the Raider Alliance. There are many new characters with recorded dialogue plus eight possible companions.
