Here’s How Long the Resident Evil 8 Showcase Will Be | Game Rant

As the next installment in what is arguably considered one of the most horror game franchises in history, everyone is currently holding their breath for Resident Evil 8. Ahead of this, Capcom has published a press release in which it reveals how long next week’s Resident Evil 8 showcase is going to last.

The official press release states that Capcom will host an event lasting 20-minutes not just for Resident Evil 8, but the Resident Evil franchise on the whole. The showcase will be happening next week on January 21st and is expected to begin at 2pm PST / 5pm ET. Fans wishing to be witness to the event can watch the whole thing on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Twitch. In preparation for the event, a 30-second teaser trailer was published yesterday to entice viewers with what to anticipate.

It’s expected that Capcom will be sharing a new trailer as well as gameplay and walkthrough footage for Resident Evil 8, but it will also be unveiling some extra news for the overall franchise. Not only that, but Capcom is currently accepting applications for gamers to take part in a closed beta which is being launched to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series. More details about the closed beta are expected to be announced during the showcase, but so far Capcom has said it will be operating between January 27th and 30th.

The industry is currently experiencing a golden age of horror gaming and with Resident Evil 7 having shown the Resident Evil series is nowhere near finished, this next chapter is shaping up to be one of the current generation’s most anticipated games. It’s impressive that the much-loved franchise has managed to sustain such a high profile for two and a half decades. Older gamers may remember the early days of B-movie script writing, amusingly poor voice acting, and the terror felt when encountering that first zombie.

Resident Evil 8 (also known as Resident Evil: Village) is set a few years after the events of the previous game and players will encounter a slew of new supernatural beasts, including grotesque lizards and werewolves. Some may feel these monsters are a far cry from the franchise’s original monstrosities, but a drastic change in style and creature encounters is exactly what breathed new life into a series that has stood the test of time. As of now, all fans can do is wait for the showcase next week to see what surprises are unleashed.

Resident Evil 8 is set to launch in 2021 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
