Zero-Gravity Multiplayer FPS Boundary Announced, Ready for Testing

Boundary is not a new name in video games. The sci-fi multiplayer shooter has been around for over four years going all the way back to the ChinaJoy 2016 event. But it seems that developer Surgical Scalpels is now ready to make it official. The team has now released what it’s naming Boundary‘s official announcement trailer. Hopefully, it’ll be a number of gamers’ first look at the exciting and technically impressive multiplayer first-person space shooter, drawing their attention so that they’ll work to join the game’s first technical test.

The 2-minute trailer spends most of its time giving viewers a slow-motion look at Boundary‘s finer details. It shows close-up of the playable astronauts using their weapons and tools, as well as floating around in zero gravity. It’s this eye for visual detail that’s a clear focus for Surgical Scalpels in Boundary. Boundary is fully intended to be a graphics showcase, whether it’s through the game’s lighting, destruction, or smaller details like how a weapon is animated.

With about 45 seconds left in the trailer, it takes a more action-packed turn. Viewers get to see just what Boundary‘s frenetic team-based FPS action looks like. Zero gravity is obviously a major feature, as players are shown hovering in space, twisting in all directions. Also shown are some of the player’s tools in Boundary. For example, each player has small booster jets that allow them to move without having a firm hold on something. They also have a sort of grappling hook that will pull them quickly to a destination.

The announcement trailer does coincide with confirmation of Boundary‘s upcoming technical test. It runs on Steam from January 15 through January 17. Interested parties can register for Boundary‘s beta on the game’s official website, or they can go to PCGamer and enter a raffle for a chance at a technical test key. Expect to hear more about Boundary as the year goes on.
