Every Pokemon Confirmed So Far for New Pokemon Snap | Game Rant

After a long time of relative radio silence, a new trailer has dropped for New Pokemon Snap. This trailer reveals the game’s release date to be April 30th, 2021, with pre-orders opening up alongside it.

While the trailer shows off more of the environments planned to appear in New Pokemon Snap, astute viewers may have also noticed the presence of even more Pokemon compared to the initial trailer. This means that even more Pokemon will likely be in the game for players to discover on their own.

In the initial trailer back in 2020, 36 different Pokemon were shown and confirmed to be in the game. This new trailer, however, bumps the number of confirmed Pokemon to 71, making the trailer already have more Pokemon than the original Pokemon Snap, which had 63 Pokemon.

With the original Pokemon Snap being part of Pokemon’s first generation, only Kanto Pokemon were available to be photographed in-game. New Pokemon Snap, however, has access to eight different generations of Pokemon and their surrounding lore to implement with how the Pokemon interact with the environment. With how important these original Pokemon are, they definitely have their place within this new title.

The Pokemon from the Kanto region that are confirmed to appear in New Pokemon Snap are:

  • Squirtle
  • Blastoise
  • Caterpie
  • Pidgeot
  • Fearow
  • Pikachu
  • Machamp
  • Dodrio
  • Onix
  • Exeggutor
  • Pinsir
  • Magikarp
  • Lapras

Of course, more Pokemon than what are confirmed via the trailers will likely be appearing in the full game. This especially goes for Pokemon that are part of evolutionary lines, as getting Pokemon to evolve on camera was a mechanic in the original Pokemon Snap.

The Johto region is often as well loved as the Kanto region with its popular pre-evolutions and evolutions of existing Pokemon. The region is also filled with memorable characters and mechanics that make it very popular among Pokemon fans of every age.

So far, the Johto Pokemon that are confirmed to make an appearance in New Pokemon Snap are:

  • Meganium
  • Hoothoot
  • Pichu
  • Bellossom
  • Aipom
  • Wooper
  • Quagsire
  • Murkrow
  • Heracross
  • Octillery
  • Mantine

Like with the Kanto Pokemon, many more Pokemon from the Johto region are likely to appear in the full game proper. With the appearance of Meganium in the recent trailer seeming to be a special encounter of some kind, it is very possible that players will get to see the Chikorita line evolve into the shown Pokemon.

The Hoenn region is filled with plenty of tropical and photogenic Pokemon that will be perfect for players going on a photographic safari. Many of these Pokemon have already been shown in the trailers, with many of the water-types from the region appearing in the shown seaside stage.

With footage from both trailers, the confirmed Pokemon from the Hoenn region are:

  • Torchic
  • Wurmple
  • Beautifly
  • Shiftry
  • Taillow
  • Wingull
  • Pelipper
  • Shroomish
  • Slaking
  • Sharpedo
  • Wailord
  • Zangoose
  • Seviper

Fans of the Hoenn region will likely get a lot to look at with these Pokemon in New Pokemon Snap. With the Hoenn region being more of an ocean-based region even before Alola was conceived, many Pokemon from this region will be able to be observed in their natural habitat without any trainer battles interrupting them.

Many fans of the Sinnoh region are currently waiting for remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl. While the status of those games remain unknown to the public as of January 2021, Sinnoh fans will be able to see representatives of their favorite region in New Pokemon Snap.

With all of the currently released footage of the game, these are all the Sinnoh Pokemon currently confirmed for New Pokemon Snap:

For many Sinnoh fans, some of the Pokemon shown in the New Pokemon Snap trailers will be having their first proper 3D appearance on the Nintendo Switch with this game. This is due to Pokemon such as Torterra and Bidoof not being available by any means in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.

The Unova region is known for its highly praised stories in Pokemon Black, Pokemon White, Pokemon Black 2, and Pokemon White 2. While the designs of the Pokemon native to this region remain divisive among Pokemon fans, there are plenty of fan favorite Pokemon that remain popular with fans.

With the two trailers that have currently been released, the confirmed Pokemon from the Unova region appearing in New Pokemon Snap are:

An interesting observation in the new trailer is the appearance of Deerling and Sawsbuck. With the main gimmick of these Pokemon being that they change forms depending on the season, it could be possible for these seasonal changes to be seen by players in New Pokemon Snap. This could be used with real world seasons or different Deerling and Sawsbuck forms appearing in different climate appropriate levels.

The Kalos region has gotten recent attention from Pokemon fans between its recent implementation in Pokemon GO and rumors of it appearing as DLC in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. The Pokemon from this region will be getting a little more attention with a few of the Kalos Pokemon appearing in the New Pokemon Snap trailers.

Compared to the other regions, there doesn’t seem to be as much representation for Kalos, but the Pokemon that have been shown so far are:

  • Vilvillon
  • Florges
  • Heliolisk
  • Dedenne

Many were hopeful for a new Pokemon Snap back when the Alola region was released thanks to Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon‘s wild Pokemon picture taking mechanic. While a lot of time has passed since the release of those games, players will be able to take pictures of Alolan-based Pokemon in New Pokemon Snap.

The Alolan Pokemon that are confirmed to have appeared in the trailers so far are:

  • Alolan Raichu
  • Primarina
  • Pikipek
  • Toucannon
  • Crabrawler
  • Bounsweet
  • Comfey
  • Pyukumuku

With the Galar region being the newest main region in the Pokemon games, it is a definite that the Pokemon from Pokemon Sword and Shield will be appearing in some capacity in New Pokemon Snap. Like the Kalos region, there haven’t been many Galar Pokemon shown in the trailers so far, but it is very likely that more will be appearing in the full game.

The representatives from the Galar region that are currently confirmed to be appearing in New Pokemon Snap are:

New Pokemon Snap will be available for the Nintendo Switch on April 30th, 2021.
