Hitman 3 Launching With Google Stadia Exclusive Feature

Google Stadia players will be able to enjoy a special feature in Hitman 3 when it releases. The Stadia Team reveals a new sharing capability, State Share, that will be exclusive to Hitman – World of Assassination Trilogy on Google’s gaming platform.

The last entry in the World of Assassination trilogy, this upcoming Hitman game should have plenty for fans. The series is famous for dropping players into levels where they can utilize a wide variety of gear to complete an assassination. Google Stadia is one of the newest additions to the video game industry, and the platform offers gamers the ability to stream titles to various devices including computers, smart TVs, and phones.

While Stadia has relied on older games from other consoles in the past, the State Share feature will offer a way to share games that is not possible on PlayStation, Switch, or Xbox consoles. With Share State players can snip a game state, or playable piece of the game, and share it with friends by sending them a link. Every game that comes with Share Share will have a unique state, including objectives, items, and more. While sharing gameplay or screenshots is an option on other consoles, Share State will reportedly take this one step further by making those snippets playable.

Since it is launching with Hitman 3, Share State will have a multitude of interactions with the assassination simulator. Players will be able to save a game state anytime during a mission, or during the mission complete screen. Developer IO Interactive has structured the new feature in Hitman 3 to utilize various game state elements, including mission starting location, objectives, player loadout, and difficulty. With Share State, fans can also apparently try out gear that has not been unlocked yet, without altering their own save.

Adding a platform the gaming industry is no small feat, due to the other consoles building up communities over decades. Google is a technology giant, but Stadia has not captured the gaming community by storm thus far, and may have overpromised its capabilities. However, Share State could help drive gamers on the to try out the exclusive feature. Sharing games is a popular concept in a world of shrinking physical options and increasing isolation, so being able to share a slice of gameplay sounds like an exciting prospect.

Like most unique features, only time will tell if Share State will live up to these claims. The quality of game streaming is dependent on a player’s internet capabilities and hardware. It is hard to say whether shared gameplay will be exciting or fall flat out of context. In addition, even with the history of the Hitman series, the third game could be a questionable entry to launch this feature with. While the series is well-known, replayable assassination missions may be niche in comparison to other big series. In any case, Share State sounds like an interesting new way for gamers to interact with Stadia.

Hitman 3 will release on January 20 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
