Bloodborne PSX is an impressive fan-made PS1 ‘demake’ of Bloodborne

Ever wanted to see what hit hardcore action-RPG Bloodborne would look like as a PlayStation title? Well, you’re in luck.

Bloodborne PSX is a project that’s being developed by Lilith Walther, and is effectively a demake of the massively popular From Software title that many gamers fell in love with at launch back in 2015.

You can see some snapshots of the Unreal Engine project over on Twitter (thanks, The Gamer). In various tweets on the developer’s @b0tster account, you can see elements of the game in action and read up on the development history of the project so far.

Digging into the thread above, it’s interesting to note some of the changes Walther has had to make: she notes how enemy one-hit kill attacks had to be toned down in the interest of balance, and added in player-healing mechanics to make the already tough game not feel completely impossible.

There’s some wonderful attention to detail in the project, too – whether you’re eager to see how the player death animation looks when an enemy eviscerates you, how the stamina bar works in the demake, or how the imposing gothic architecture and level design of the original works in the more polygonal limits of the PS1, Walther has you covered.

Though Bloodborne PSX is still in development, you can see more of Walther’s work in Heartstrings Studios’ indie JRPG, Witch, or in her action-adventure project, Arcus.

It’s been a while now since we heard anything about those supposed Bloodborne remake rumours, so following the PS1 ‘demake’ may scratch your Bloodborne itch until we hear any news about that or Bloodborne 2.

If you prefer your Yharnam realized in a more Zelda-inspired way, you can always check out Yarntown instead.
