Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Split Screen Still Has Major Issues

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, like other Call of Duty games before it, supports split-screen play for both versus multiplayer and the Zombies mode. Unfortunately, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War‘s split-screen implementation has serious problems, making the feature virtually unusable for the vast majority of players. Despite numerous updates having been released for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War since the split-screen problems have come to light, they continue to plague the popular FPS game.

One of the most common Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War split-screen bugs is the infamous invisible enemy glitch. Usually this happens after Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players complete a round of multiplayer, and then try to play a match right afterwards. All of the enemies in the game appear invisible except for their guns, which puts Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War split-screen players at a severe disadvantage.

Unfortunately, one of the only ways to fix this particular Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War split-screen problem is to shut the game off completely and re-open it. Since it happens pretty consistently after every match, this means Call of Duty players will need to completely close out of the game constantly if they want to use split-screen and actually be able to see their opponents. Obviously, this is not very convenient, and considering the severity of the bugs, it’s surprising that it hasn’t been addressed yet.

Other Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War split-screen issues rear their ugly head when players try to use the feature in the game as well. Sometimes the invisible character bug extends to the lobby screen, meaning players aren’t even able to see their own Black Ops Cold War Operator – just a floating gun. Other times still, trying to play Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in split-screen will completely crash the game. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War crashing issues have been prevalent since launch, so it’s disappointing to many that they’re still plaguing the game.

Compared to other Call of Duty games, the technical issues in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War seem much more prevalent, and it’s unclear why that is. It’s no secret that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War had a limited development time when compared to other recent entries, so perhaps that has played a role in its issues, though that’s just speculation at this time.

Whatever the case may be, here’s hoping a future Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War update finally fixes the split-screen problem so players can use the feature without running into game-breaking issues like this.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
