7-Eleven in Japan Giving Away Special Gold Monster Hunter Rise Amiibo Figures

Players looking forward to Monster Hunter Rise have a chance to get special edition amiibo from 7-Eleven in Japan. As a series known for collecting unique gear, fans will want to win these rare golden amiibo for Monster Hunter Rise.

Typically, amiibo offer exclusive benefits in-game for players, ranging from items to storing save data. Plenty of Nintendo games have had amiibo support over the years, but few of those come with a gold finish. Unfortunately, this special edition group of amiibo is not available in retailers or online, as the collection will only be available through the local convenience store 7-Eleven.

The amiibo set comes with three figures, based on various creatures from Monster Hunter Rise. Players will recognize the Palamute, which is a rideable dog mount, and the Palico, which is the famous cat sidekick in the Monster Hunter series. The third amiibo is of the signature monster in the new game, Magnamalo. While these three figures will be available to purchase with their normal color scheme, the gold ones will be much harder to acquire.

The only way for fans to get their hands on these golden statues will be to win a contest through 7-Eleven in Japan. To enter, players have to purchase a digital download card for Monster Hunter Rise. Buying a card between January 25 and April 11 will earn entry into the contest. At this time, there is no information on when Capcom will announce winners, or how many players can be chosen. In addition, the amiibo designs that have been posted are merely just concepts and not yet finalized.

Amiibo announcements are usually worth checking out due to the unique designs and in-game benefits. For fans of various series, the figures also serve as an extra collectable on top of the gameplay experience. And these golden versions will probably join the rank of most expensive amiibo eventually. The other upside is that this Monster Hunter Rise set will not be sold out from scalpers. Since it is a contest relying on chance, anyone who purchases a download card could claim these figures.

That said, these collectables have come under fire in the past for being a physical type of DLC. Gamers planning on grabbing the new game will likely be disappointed to learn that these amiibo provide unique armor sets. Therefore, fans wanting those outfits will need to shell out some extra cash. Creating a contest for the set may have upsides, but it is concerning that Capcom has not shown the official designs. While entering the lottery early does not ensure a win, fans should be able to see the actual prize before purchasing a card. All in all, the golden amiibo set for Monster Hunter Rise should be a great addition to any collection.

Monster Hunter Rise will launch on March 26 for the Switch.
