Bravely Default 2 Trailer Reveals New Job Classes | Game Rant

One of the best mechanics in the Bravely Default franchise is the job system. Not only does it allow players to jump into battle with a wide range of strategies, but each job class comes with a unique outfit for the heroes to don. Bravely Default 2 is a little over a month away, and the PR campaign is gaining steam, with a new trailer revealing a few more of the job classes players will be able to choose from in the game.

Before delving into the new jobs, the trailer for Bravely Default 2 reveals the Snow Country of Rimedahl, a first look at another of the five kingdoms on the continent of Excillent. It is in this frigid country that the heroes will meet holders of the legendary Asterisks. The crystals that contain the job classes.

Appearing first in the trailer is Martha Lancer, who holds the Dragoon Asterisk. She is the Guardian of the Dragon Cave, and when players earn the Asterisk from her, they will be able to jump high above the battlefield, spear in hand, and come crashing down on their enemies. The Dragoon job is one that previously appeared in Bravely Default as the Valkyrie class. It is also a popular Final Fantasy job, having appeared in Final Fantasy 5 among others.

Next is the Swordmaster Asterisk, held by friar of the Rimedahl Church, Gladys Kelly. The job is a more tactical sword-wielding class in that it is based around counterattacks and striking at opportune times. Swordmaster is a recurring job in Bravely Default, and should be familiar for fans returning to the series.

The Priest Asterisk is shown off next, held by Helio, the Inquisitor of the Rimedahl Church. This job is focused on providing support and warding off evil, which comes pretty close to how the Bishop job in Bravely Second works. Regen, Reraise and Holy Mist are shown in the trailer. A job like this would have come in handy in the Bravely Default 2 demo, where the difficulty really ramped up quickly.

The Oracle Asterisk is held by Dominic, the high priest of the Rimedahl Church. The job is described as a “mage that delivers the word of law” which sounds about right for an Oracle. The Oracle provides support by manipulating elements and even time itself, as the trailer shows off the Oracle casting Haste. This job class looks somewhat new, and breaking away from the Bravely franchise and mixing up what a job does is not a bad strategy.

Finally is the Salve-Maker, another returning job that creates items to use in battle for attacking, defending, or for support. The Asterisk for this job is held by Glenn Booth, the Mayor of the snowy village of Enderno. In previous Bravely Default games, this job’s main ability was called Compounding, and that looks likely to be the case here as well. One of the crafted items is a Love Potion, which might not be as romantic as a Mountain Dew body pillow, but it’s close.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for job classes in Bravely Default 2, there are likely many more still to be revealed. If fans are anxiously awaiting this game’s release date, there are a number of games fans of Bravely Default can play to tide themselves over. Only a few weeks left until they can start building their favorite job classes up.

Bravely Default 2 launches on Nintendo Switch on February 26th.
