Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is no stranger to odd bugs and glitches, and the latest gives players an early look at some content that may be coming soon. While it is still unconfirmed, it seems like one of the next scorestreak additions for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be the Sniper’s Nest.
If the name Sniper’s Nest sounds familiar, this is likely because of its appearance in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. In Treyarch’s previous game, Sniper’s Nest was a high tier scorestreak that saw a group of snipers positioned in a friendly helicopter, dropping enemies below. An incredibly effective streak that could output the same level of damage as an attack helicopter in the right situations, the only downside was how long it took to enter the battlefield.
Much like how the H.A.R.P. scorestreak was discovered early via custom games, as AI-controlled teammates could use the streak before it was added, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players have stumbled upon evidence of a Sniper’s Nest. In a clip posted by @TheMW2Ghost on Twitter, a player calls in a care package and is rewarded with the incredibly powerful and glitchy VTOL Escort. However, when going to claim the streak, the player tags the care package — and sees Sniper Nest text appear in the bottom left corner.
Given the new scorestreak system and how long it takes to obtain Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s better scorestreaks, the Sniper Nest would work well inside the latest Black Ops title. By being limited to one or two appearances in each match, Treyarch can tune up the Sniper Nest’s power to make it a devastating addition to the game’s current lineup of streaks. However, players should be warned that this bug certainly does not confirm its appearance.
In the past, many assets from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 have appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. From the M82 Sniper Rifle showing up as the SDM in the game’s campaign to the Saug SMG appearing in the dual wield section for multiplayer, there has been no shortage of reused textures and leftover code. As such, it is entirely possible that this Sniper Nest appearance falls into the same category, with Treyarch possibly reusing the Sniper’s Nest helicopter as the care package carrier.
Regardless of whether the Sniper’s Nest is coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War or is simply a reused asset, players can expect more scorestreaks to come to the game going forward. With the flamethrower also leaking via an official image from Treyarch, the Sniper Nest may not be coming alone if it is ever added to the game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
