Leaf Stones are a Pokemon item that have existed in the first generation. Despite how long it has existed, it is only usable by six out of 898 Pokemon. As its name describes, most of the Pokemon it evolves are Grass-type.
Depending on what game is played, Leaf Stones can be found or brought. Luckily for Sword and Shield players, Leaf Stones can be found in abundance. As for the Pokemon it evolves though, that can be more of a challenge. With its open-world inspired gameplay, certain Pokemon can be a little harder to find. This is especially true considering only six out of 898 Pokemon can use a Leaf Stone!
6 Eevee To Leafeon
From generation four through seven, Eevee could evolve into a Leafeon when near a Mossy Rock. In Sword and Shield though, that has changed. Players do longer need to find a Mossy Rock and instead can just use a Leaf Stone. This makes Eevee the single Pokemon that uses a Leaf Stone that is not a Grass-type. However, it does evolve into one!
Eevee are always highly desired. After all, they have many evolutions. To get an Eevee in Sword and Shield, players must hang out in Route 4. Luckily, it is not time or weather dependent. However, its spawn rate is a little low so players will need to be patient. While players are at it, they may as well catch multiple Eevees to evolve differently (especially if they are working on their Pokedex entries).
5 Gloom To Vileplume
Gloom is the one of the Pokemon to ever use the Leaf Stone to evolve, since it was introduced in the first generation. Be sure to not use a Sun Stone on it, as that will evolve Gloom into a Bellossom instead of a Vileplume.
Sword and Shield players can catch a Gloom at a number of different locations. For the highest spawn rate, they should hunt for Gloom at Axew’s Eye while the weather is overcast. Players who do this will have to search the grass, as these Gloom to not spawn overworld. However it is the location with the highest chance to see one at 40 percent. However, this will only be accessible late-game. For the earliest chance to get a Gloom, players can search North Lake Miloch. At that location, Gloom are most present during thunderstorms and can be seen overworld with a spawn rate of 30 percent. Of course, another option is to just catch an Oddish and evolve it at level 21.
4 Nuzleaf To Shiftry
Next is Nuzleaf, the part Grass and park Dark-type Pokemon. It evolves from a Seedot at the low level of 14, but can also be caught in numerous locations in Sword. It is very important to know that this is a Pokemon that is only available in Sword, and not Shield. That includes Seedot and its evolution. So Shield players will have to get this Pokemon through a trade.
For Sword players, the location with the highest spawn rate is the Giant’s Seat when the weather is rainy. In rainy weather, it has a 60 percent spawn rate there. They also can appear there when it is sunny but their spawn rate lowers to just 25 percent. To get one as early in the game as possible, Nuzleaf can be found in the Rolling Fields between levels seven and nine. Their spawn rate there is 40 percent but they are not seen overworld and can be found randomly in the tall grass. This is also only during rainy weather.
3 Exeggcute To Exeggcutor
First of all, players should know that there is no way to evolve an Exeggcute to an Alolan Exeggcutor. The only way to get one is not through evolution but to find 75 Digletts in the Isle of Armor and talking to the trainer by the bridge in the Fields of Honor.
Like Gloom, Exeggcute is also one of the first Pokemon to use a Leaf Stone from the first generation. Unless its in a Sun or Moon game, it will evolve into a regular Exeggcutor with a Leaf Stone. Unfortunately for Sword and Shield players, all the spawn rates for Exeggcute in the game are rather small and is always at 16 percent. They can appear overworld at the Workout Sea and the Stepping-Stone Sea.
2 Weepinbell To Victorybell
Long with Gloom and Exeggcute, Weepinbell is the third first generation Pokemon to use a Leaf Stone to evolve. The bad news for Sword and Shield players is that this Pokemon, along with its entire evolutionary line, are not available in the Galar region. On top of that, they cannot be brought over using Pokemon Home. They are just one of those Pokemon that were cut from the game and never were reintroduced with the two expansions.
1 Pansage To Simisage
The fate of Pansage and all the other elemental monkeys from the Black and White generation are the same was Weepinbell’s evolutionary line. They are not in the Sword and Shield games and they cannot be brought over using Pokemon Home.
Pansage though can evolve with a Leaf Stone into Simisage. The other other monkeys that are Fire-type and Water-type, Pansear and Panpour, also use a Fire Stone and Water Stone to evolve. Back in the Black and White games, the player would get a free elemental monkey based on what starter they picked in order to balance their team better.
