10 Assassin-Style Games To Play If You Loved Hitman 3 | Game Rant

Hitman 3 has finally released! And if the reviews are anything to go by, the conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy is a good one. The game offers players more interconnected maps and levels. Each map comes complete with its own backstories, lore, and enough replayability in a single mission to rival complete games.

It’s a massive title and Hitman 3 will likely keep its fans busy until the developer releases Project 007. However, for fans of stealth and the series’ impeccable level design, there are other games in the stealth genre that should keep Hitman fans happy for a while longer.

10 Aragami: Shadow Edition

Released in 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and the PC, Aragami: Shadow Edition is a wonderfully stylized stealth game that places the player in the shoes of a vengeful spirit named Aragami.

It’s an open-world game where Aragami has control of the shadows and teleport between them and use a variety of creative strategies to take down enemies. It’s a far more mystical game than the Hitman series but the freedom and variety of ways to kill an enemy will definitely appeal to stealth fans. A sequel featuring co-op gameplay has also been announced.

9 Mark Of The Ninja: Remastered

Released in 2018 for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch, Mark of the Ninja is a 2D action stealth game where the player takes on the role of a ninja defending his clan. Despite being a 2D game it offers its players a similar experience in stealth and strategy.

Players need to use tactics in order to defeat enemies and take advantage of the shadows and environmental opportunities to clear out levels and defeat enemies as tactically as possible.

8 Goldeneye 007: Reloaded

The original Goldeye 007 that released on Nintendo 64 is and always will be a classic and one of the greatest games to use a combination of stealth mechanics and action. For those looking for a more modern James Bond experience, however, 2010’s Goldeneye 007: Reloaded is another great experience.

It reimagines the plot of the Goldeneye movie with Daniel Craig now in the lead role and naturally has fantastic voice acting. Players can also replay missions with different stipulations in place offering a similar experience to the Hitman franchise.

7 Ghost Of Tsushima

Released in 2020, Ghost of Tsushima is one of the biggest titles of the year and easily one of the best PlayStation 4 exclusives released. The game offers players a variety of gameplay mechanics to defeat enemies in its stunning open world with an immense amount of detail.

From amazing swordplay to some really excellent stealth mechanics (that even allow players to disguise themselves as enemy Samurai – with the right outfit unlocked), Ghost of Tsushima offers players several ways to take down enemies.

6 Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

Released as a prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in 2014, Ground Zeroes is a much shorter experience than the main game when it is played to complete the main mission. However, this little prologue has so much more content hidden beneath the surface and those willing to look will find a more focused, layered, and deep stealth experience.

The best way to play Ground Zeroes is to complete the game’s Side Ops missions and work to complete the Trophies and Achievements. Doing so will provide a similar kind of stealth experience for Hitman fans and reveal a much bigger game than it first appears.

5 Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts

Released in 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC, Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts is the fifth entry in the series. It is the best game in the series and offers a more focused and polished stealth experience than its predecessors after several patches were put in place.

Instead of one fully open-world, the player now completes missions on smaller – but still large – maps that have 25 missions to complete along with optional and open-ended contract missions. The game’s objectives have lots of variety, and like Hitman, there are endless ways to complete missions.

4 Assassin’s Creed: Rogue

First released in 2015 and later remastered for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC, Assassin’s Creed: Rogue flips the script and places players in the shoes of a former assassin named Shay Cormac that has turned against the Creed and joined the Templars.

An argument can be made for fans of stealth to try all of the Assassin’s Creed games — but in Rogue, players get to be an assassin of assassins. Not only does this bring in a new and interesting dynamic to the formula but it’s a fresh new take on a long-running series that will interest fans of the Hitman franchise.

3 The Dishonored Series

The Dishonored series is another mystical take on the stealth genre and has many elements that make it similar to the classic Thief series and of course Hitman. Just like Hitman, both Dishonored titles and their expansions offer players a ton of variety when it comes to assassinating targets.

The amount of variety in the gameplay is astonishing from combat to using magic abilities like controlling rats to kill targets. The amount of replay value in the Dishonored games is only rivaled by the Hitman series.

2 Splinter Cell: Blacklist

Released in 2013, Splinter Cell: Blacklist was the final entry in the stealth series and it remains one of the most polished stealth games ever released. Visually, the game still holds up beautifully thanks in part to a recent update from Ubisoft to enhance the game’s visuals.

As with its predecessors, Blacklist offers players a variety of options when it comes to completing missions and a ton of replay value in the same way that the Hitman series approaches its missions.

1 Sniper Elite 4

Released in 2017 for the Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 4, and the Switch two years later, Sniper Elite 4 is a stealth game set during World War 2. Each level offers its players densely built, large and open maps to explore like those found in the Hitman series.

These maps also allow the player to approach their targets in a variety of ways to kill their targets and complete their missions. In addition, the environments resemble the maps in Hitman because the players can use them to create diversions, accidents, and set up traps while getting away without being seen or heard.
