CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 has a lot of memorable characters. One of the most popular characters is Jackie Welles, the best friend of V. In a recent ExBee Podcast, Jackie’s actor Jason Hightower said that he wouldn’t mind coming back to Night City. During the interview, Jason said, “I don’t want to be the one to say it, but—I mean—you know we could DLC an upload of Jackie.” The actor then continues to share his thoughts on what the DLC could be about throughout a good segment of the podcast.
SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE THAT HAVEN’T FINISHED CYBERPUNK 2077
Jackie is one of the characters that V gets close to during the start of the game. However, depending on the Lifepath the player chooses, Jackie would have different character introductions. Later in the story, Jackie dies after a big heist goes wrong. The DLC that Jason, the voice actor, wanted to make is one where Jackie talks to V the same way as Johnny Silverhand, voiced by Keanu Reeves, talks to V throughout the story. The hosts and Jason also joked about Jackie being a radio show host in-game.
Cyberpunk 2077 starts with players choosing different Lifepaths, which is the background story for their characters. Regardless of the Lifepath players choose, V will always become good friends with Jackie. Jackie has been featured in most of the gameplay and story trailers. Players are eager to learn more about Jackie despite being killed early on in the game. Hopefully, he can become a playable character or have him return in backstories in future DLCs.
Players can also unlock Jackie’s Motorcycle to remember him throughout the game. Mama Welles will send a message to V, informing him that she’ll be hosting an “ofrenda” or offering for Jackie. Players can attend the “ofrenda” by visiting El Coyote Cojo, the family’s bar, in which Mama Welles gives V the keys to Jackie’s garage. Before V enters the garage, he gets into an intimate conversation with Jackie’s girlfriend, Misty. Though there are a lot of vehicles in Cyberpunk 2077 to choose from, Jackie’s motorcycle is a standout option for players as it serves as a reminder of Jackie.
Cyberpunk 2077 is now discounted at multiplayer retailers, due to the unfortunate circumstance where a majority of players are unhappy with the final product. Although the game was promising at first, fans and recent gameplays have only shown the opposite of what was promised. While some fans have abandoned Cyberpunk 2077 altogether, some players are still loyal to the futuristic game. Hopefully, the game’s bugs and issues will be fixed soon.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions in development.
