While there are still online arguments concerning the current popularity of Fall Guys, it was undeniably a massive success upon release, so much so that the servers couldn’t keep up with the amount of people trying to play it at launch. Currently, the game is still only available on PC and PlayStation 4, but those without access to either have spent the last six or so months begging for it to be brought to the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Only last week, fans suspected that the official Fall Guys Twitter account was teasing that the game would at least come to Xbox Game Pass. However, the account later denied that that’s what it was doing. But then, earlier today, the official Instagram for Xbox Game Pass responded to one fan’s wish that Fall Guys would be made available on the service with “It’s coming.”
The post has since been deleted, but someone managed to save it and share it on Reddit. Normally, this would suggest that the announcement was leaked early and would have been officially confirmed at a later date. But Fall Guys‘ publisher, Devolver Digital, has stepped in to clarify that this is simply not true. This was repeated by the Fall Guys Twitter account.
Devolver’s comment doesn’t necessarily mean that the game will never come to Xbox Game Pass, but it’s clear that it’s not happening any time soon. As for why the Xbox Game Pass account claimed it was in the first place, that is still unknown at the time of writing, though it can possibly just be attributed to human error.
Some would argue that it’s absurd that Fall Guys hasn’t been ported to other platforms already. It was easily one of the best multiplayer games of 2020 and the inclusion of crossplay means PC and PS4 owners can all play together, thus further fostering a sense of community.
It’s even more surprising when Among Us, perhaps one of its biggest rivals, was initially only on PC and mobile devices but has since been ported to the Switch and is set to come to the Xbox platform as well, thus attracting even more players. There’s currently no word on whether it will also release on the PS4 or PS5.
At the moment, Fall Guys doesn’t appear to be struggling, even with it only available on two platforms. Even though it’s only on its third season, the game has continued to receive support from other brands in the form of crossover skins. The likes of Godzilla and streamer Ninja have lent their likenesses to the game and, most recently, Bethesda contributed some skins based on Doom Eternal.
Fall Guys is available on PC and PlayStation 4.
