Goku is one of the most famous and popular characters across all manner of fiction and media. His exploits as the main hero of the Dragon Ball franchise have shown everyone how he is an unmatched warrior and martial artist. But what fans have also seen is that Goku has an almost unmatched appetite. The outrageous amount of food Kakarot consumes has become a popular joking point about the character.
Besting Goku in a fight might be out of the question for most fictional characters, but there are some who could definitely beat him in the area of food consumption. Goku’s not the only over-indulger around. If paired against the Saiyan warrior in an eating contest, these heavy hitters would definitely take him down.
10 Slimer
The iconic green ghost from the classic sci-fi comedy Ghostbusters would certainly give Goku an honest, albeit spooky, challenge. Slimer is known for his uncanny ability to eat almost nonstop. It could make anyone wonder what kind of person he was when he was still alive.
But it’s the fact that Slimer is dead that makes Goku an easy challenge. The food is going somewhere when he eats it, but it’s not a stomach. It’s a bit unfair for a contest, since he doesn’t have to fully digest it, but Slimer can’t control how his spiritual form operates.
9 Wario
Mario’s greedy and mischievous counterpart has an appetite to match his avarice. And as fans have seen in the Super Smash Bros. games, Wario can actually eat anything he can fit his mouth around. He’s shown the ability to literally inhale coins, too, as he was prone to do in GameCube adventure, Wario World.
Wario is all about greed, selfishness, and praising himself, so he’d take any contest with anyone seriously. Once he was done with his own food, there’s a good chance that Wario would then finish off anything that Goku hasn’t.
8 Hulk
Hulk, especially after lingering in his gamma-charged form for prolonged periods of time, would no doubt require a large amount of food to keep him as happy as his constant rage can allow. From his massive size alone, it’s obvious to anyone that even three-course meals would be like snacks to the massive and beastly Avenger.
Hulk is also known to love a challenge, which facing off against Goku would no doubt be. The only thing that the threat of losing would do is fuel his anger and his appetite. With what is undoubtedly the greatest example of an iron stomach in the Marvel universe, Hulk would make short work of any meal placed before him, plate and silverware most likely included.
7 Jabba the Hutt
Perhaps Jabba would win against Goku because Goku would just forfeit to avoid being around Jabba for too long. The voracious and disgusting slug crime lord makes a living out of forcing others to do his bidding, and that leaves him with a lot of time to relax and eat. He’s not picky, either, shown by his willingness to eat still-wriggling morsels.
Jabba would be an example of slow and steady wins the race. Goku could definitely eat faster than Jabba, but the latter knows how to bide his time. The massive sleemo’s equally massive gut would still be downing food while Goku passes out from a stomach ache.
6 Bowser
Bowser might not make a personality trait of his, but this king of the Koopas can scarf down anything he can clamp those powerful jaws down on. From games such as Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story, fans can gain a full understanding of exactly how much Bowser can put away without him even breaking a sweat.
The only issue Bowser would have with an eating contest against Goku is that he might be disqualified for trying to take a bit out of the hero as well. Bowser is no fan of the good guys, so having the chance to get rid of at least one of them might be worth it to the big boss.
5 Yoshi
Yoshi would definitely win against Goku in an eating contest, but some people might say this would be an unfair contest. Yoshi is famous for his ability to eat virtually anything, an ability that has served him well on many adventures. But the important detail is that he has the equally famous ability to instantly turn anything he eats into an egg. Whether it’s actual food, an inanimate object, or some unfortunate enemy, Yoshi can turn whatever he wants into his favorite spotted and shelled projectiles.
This would be a case similar to the one with Slimer. Yoshi can’t control his biology. He eats something, and that something turns into an egg. The best Goku could hope for is that Yoshi, who is often absent-minded, would lose focus and stop competing.
4 Snorlax
As fans will learn from reading Snorlax’s Pokedex in Pokemon Firered, this beast of a Pokemon is not happy unless it eats an excess of 880 pounds of food every day. And Snorlax isn’t a truly massive creature, standing at a reasonable 6’11”. Taking that into account, the amount of food it eats is astounding.
Goku’s only hope for victory in an eating contest with Snorlax would be if the hefty Pokemon fell asleep in the middle of it. Otherwise, Kakarot will just have to watch as Snorlax performs its role as the Pokemon version of a vacuum.
3 Gluttony
It makes sense that Gluttony would beat Goku in the eating category. There’s a reason he’s named after that particular deadly sin. Gluttony can eat anything. As long as he can chomp down on it, he will be able to take a piece out of it, swallow it, and send it down to the literal bottomless pit in his stomach.
This competition would be another time when Goku would need to make sure his opponent didn’t try to eat him as well. Gluttony’s hunger is never-ending. He will always try to snack on anything or anyone in an attempt to satisfy it, which would make anyone facing off against him want to keep a safe distance.
2 Majin Buu
The only fellow Dragon Ball series character to make the cut, Majin Buu has shown multiple times that his appetite is unmatched in his own universe. Despite always being hungry, Majin Buu doesn’t have a typical biological body. He’s a magical creature, so it’s a total mystery how his biology works. But that doesn’t matter to him, as he can use his magic in a number of ways to calm his cravings. One such way is to turn objects and people into delicious candy.
The worst part of losing to Majin Buu in an eating contest would be that he probably wouldn’t even know he was in one. Majin Buu is a simple being that doesn’t pay attention to much. The only thing he’d care about was the free meal being provided.
1 Kirby
There’s really no competing with Kirby when it comes to eating. His mouth could be compared to a black hole when he sees something he wants to devour. With an adorable and powerful inhale, Kirby can suck in absolutely anything around him and absorb it into his tiny, pink body.
Not only would Kirby beat Goku, but he’d also do it in record time. No matter the amount of food in front of him, all Kirby needs to do is stand firm and suck it all down. Even a full grocery store would be emptied in a matter of seconds by this hungry little alien.
