MiHoYo’s action gacha title Genshin Impact has definitely kept its players on its toes despite the game only being launched in late 2020. With new Genshin Impact content in 2021 such as special events and unique playable characters to add to the roster, mobile players of the game will likely be thrilled to learn that the development team is planning to bring mobile controller support into the system, specifically for iOS users.
Genshin Impact is currently free-to-play across many platforms such as the PC, the PlayStation 4, and, of course, iOS and Android devices. However, the developers have noticed that iOS device owners have been particularly vocal in their demand to be able to play the game using their physical controllers. Since the team was able to enforce the ability to remap Genshin Impact controls in one of the game’s earlier patches, it seems the developers have heard their Travelers’ cries and decided to implement mobile controller support in an incoming version update.
In a recently published developers discussion post, miHoYo answered some of their players’ most frequently asked questions, and gave a few details on the Version 1.3 update for Genshin Impact. Some of the significant changes included shifting how the Resin system works, and being able to convert unused materials in the game. But the team also made a brief statement that Travelers who have updated their Apple devices to iOS 14 onward will finally be able to use their mobile controllers. For players who prefer the controller experience, this is particularly helpful in dungeons or quests that have heavy action or need quick reaction times.
Once players have updated their game to Version 1.3, Genshin Impact will be able to support the following physical controllers – the Xbox Wireless Controller (Bluetooth Version), the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, and the PlayStation DualShock 4 Wireless Controller. For iOS-specialized Bluetooth controllers, the development team mentioned that the game will only provide partial support. Unfortunately for non-iOS users, no official information has been confirmed if the same controller support will be implemented for Android devices.
The game’s version 1.3 update currently has no official release date from the developers, but online leaks have mentioned that the patch may arrive at the beginning of February. Until then, Genshin Impact still has so much content to offer to its player base, whether they are Travelers just starting with the story or already completing high-level quests in Dragonspine. Hopefully with the sheer amount of things to do in the game, players will be able to busily pass the time until the new update becomes live.
Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and currently in development for the PS5 and Switch.
