Arguably one of the best contenders in today’s MMO genre, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 14 has continuously churned out new expansions and in-game content, much to its fans’ delight. With the development team working hard to stay true to their promise of sharing more Final Fantasy news in 2021, Square Enix has suddenly revealed a global schedule for a Final Fantasy 14 announcement showcase.
Most Final Fantasy 14 players have been busy with the latest Shadowbringers 5.4 patch update, what with the new content being released only last December 2020. However, with news of Square Enix trademarking a new title that coincidentally seems connected to the FF14 expansion naming trend, rumors have sparked online, and fans are keen to hear official news to finally curb all the speculations. And, it seems that the devs may have decided it was about time to put these suggestions to rest, by hosting an online event.
Shared on all of the MMO’s social media accounts, and on the official Lodestone site, Square Enix confirmed that there will be a Final Fantasy 14 Announcement Showcase. The event will happen simultaneously across different time zones, on February 5, 2021, 5:30PM PST or February 6, 2021, 1:30 GMT. Players and fans alike can watch the happenings online through the game’s official livestreaming channels such as YouTube, Twitch, and Japan’s popular streaming platform, Niconico Live.
The development team seems extremely tight-lipped about the Final Fantasy 14 event, as the announcement gave very few details on what fans should expect when they tune into the livestream. With other titles such as Capcom’s Monster Hunter Rise recently utilizing live digital events to deliver big news and reveals, it is very possible that the Final Fantasy 14 team is waiting to unload a large amount of highly-anticipated updates onto its player base.
The game’s official posts have also stated that the livestream will be translated live, from Japanese to English. This encourages fans to speculate that the Final Fantasy 14 Announcement Showcase will hold more than your typical developer updates, and may bring exciting information such as a new expansion, a new content update, or even a new Final Fantasy 14 character class or job.
However, until the online event actually happens in February, Final Fantasy 14‘s players will have to sit still and be content with the small amount of information they currently have. And with only a few weeks left until the livestream, fans do not have to wait too long before their questions about Final Fantasy 14‘s future are finally answered.
Final Fantasy 14 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
