Hitman 3: How to Change Difficulty | Game Rant

In Hitman 3, players have the option of three difficulty levels that can be selected before taking on a mission. The difficulties include casual, professional, and master level, each with unique conditions that will alter a player’s experience within the mission.

In Hitman 1, players had to reach a certain mastery rank within a level to unlock the higher difficulties. In Hitman 3, all of the three difficulties are available to select from the start. Before selecting a difficulty level on a specific mission, players should be aware of the differences between the three levels.

If the player selects the casual difficulty level, their mission will have unlimited saves, story guide trackers, no surveillance cameras, fewer enforcers (enemies who detect disguises), easier combat, the ability to carry more illegal items, and enemies are less attentive to sound. If this is a player’s first foray into the Hitman franchise, then casual difficulty is recommended as a means of familiarizing themselves with Hitman 3‘s basic mechanics.

If the player selects professional difficulty, there are several differences that should be immediately apparent from casual difficulty. On professional difficulty, surveillance cameras will be present throughout the level and will alert enemies if they spot anything suspicious. This means the player has to sabotage surveillance terminals if they are spotted and are attempting a silent assassin rank. Additionally, the player will take more damage from combat.

Master difficulty is the most challenging of the difficulty levels, and should only be attempted by those familiar with the franchise, or, after having familiarized themselves with a specific mission on a lower difficulty. On master difficulty players have only one save per mission, no story guide indicators, additional enforcers will appear, and players take more damage from combat. Due to the lack of visual indicators on this difficulty, players will have to remember the steps for completing various Hitman 3 story missions in order to complete the level as quickly as possible.

Players can select the difficulty in any Hitman 3 mission from the briefing menu. The option is located underneath the planning tab. It is important to note that regardless of what difficulty players select, their final mission score will remain unaffected, with no bonus granted for completing missions on a higher difficulty. However, their score will be uploaded to the leaderboard and will be sorted by what difficulty they selected. This allows for players looking to take on more difficult challenges in Hitman 3 to compare how other people fared on that difficulty level in a specific mission.

Achieving a silent assassin rank on master difficulty is no easy feat, but with enough practice, players will get to know Hitman 3‘s map layouts for ease of play.

Hitman 3 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
