The Hoenn Celebration Event is still currently active in Pokemon GO. With it is the Hoenn Collection Challenge, a special event task that requires players to catch specific Hoenn Pokemon from a list in exchange for a reward.
One of the Pokemon that is required for the current Pokemon GO Collection Challenge is Bagon. This pure dragon-type Pokemon eventually evolves into the pseudo-legendary Pokemon Salamence, making it very valuable on players’ teams.
Unlike many of the other Hoenn Pokemon that players need to collect for this challenge, Bagon is not included in the increased spawn pool. This doesn’t mean that players won’t be able to find one, however, they just need to prepare for some battling.
There are two main ways that players will be able to find and obtain Bagon during the Hoenn Celebration Event. The first way is through via battling Bagon as a raid boss. Bagon however isn’t the only possible raid boss for one star raids as Treeko, Torchic, Mudkip, Ralts, and Aron can also appear as one star raid bosses.
Being only a one star raid boss, Bagon won’t be much of a challenge even for players challenging the raid alone. Those who are still early off in Pokemon GO however might have more struggles than others. These players however can take advantage of Bagon’s weaknesses to ice, dragon, and fairy-type moves. However, they will also need to be aware of Bagon’s resistance to fire, water, grass, and electric-type moves.
While catching Bagon after a raid is the easiest way to get one during this event, players also have the chance to hatch a Bagon from any 5km egg received while the Hoenn Celebration Event is ongoing. This egg pool however is also shared by Skitty, Aron, Corphish, Lileep, Anorith, and Beldum.
Bagon can evolve into Shelgon through the usage of 25 Bagon Candies. Shelgon can then evolve into the fearsome Salamence by using 100 Bagon Candies. Salamence is a dual dragon and flying-type Pokemon, making it weak to ice, fairy, dragon, and rock-type moves. It however is resistant to fighting, water, bug, fire, grass, and ground-type moves.
One players get a Salamence, its best moveset has it knowing Dragon Tail for its fast move and Draco Meteor for its charge move. While Shadow Salamence is considered to be the heaviest hitter of all dragon-type Pokemon even compared to legendary dragon-types, a normal Salamence is also very powerful. This makes it highly recommended for players to raise their Bagon to be as strong as possible.
Pokemon GO is available now on Android and iOS.
