Stardew Valley: How to Get Refined Quartz | Game Rant

With there being many different craftable items in Stardew Valley, there are also many different materials that can go into these items. While some of these are easy to find and obtain like fibers, wood, and stone, others like refined quartz require a few more steps to get.

Normal pieces of quartz can be found in Stardew Valley rather easily with it being a foraged item in both the mines and Skull Cavern. This cannot be used as a replacement for refined quartz, but it can be made into it.

There are, in fact, multiple ways for players to get refined quartz via making it themselves or finding it. As players get further in Stardew Valley, getting refined quartz will also get easier and easier as players have more at their disposal.

The first way that players can get refined quartz is by smelting one piece of normal quartz or fire quartz in a furnace. Like other smelting jobs, this will also cost players one piece of coal. Smelting normal quartz will give players one piece of refined quartz back, but smelting a fire quartz will give players three pieces of refined quartz back. No matter what is used, getting refined quartz via smelting will take 1.5 hours of in-game time to complete.

Another way that players can get refined quartz is through a recycling machine. By using a broken CD or broken glasses obtained by going through trash cans or fishing up trash on a recycling machine, it will give players a piece of refined quartz in exchange. Players can also rarely find refined quartz in trash cans.

While very rare, players can find refined quartz in the mines and Skull Cavern. In the mines, there is a rare chance for one to appear after players break large crystals. Refined quartz is also a rare drop from ghosts on floors 51-90 in the mines and a 10% drop from carbon ghosts in Skull Cavern.

The final way of obtaining refined quartz is through owning a ghostfish fish pond on the player’s farm. If the fish pond reaches a population of nine, the fish pond can also start producing refined quartz.

Refined quartz is needed in multiple recipes with some being necessary in order to create even more helpful items down the line. These recipes are the crystal floor, crystal path, farm computer, garden pot, lightning rod, quality sprinkler, and solar panel.

One of the farm buildings made by Robin also requires refined quartz. This would be the slime hutch, which requires ten pieces of refined quartz. Players wanting to raise slimes should definitely save their quartz for this.

Stardew Valley is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
