Several months after its release in November 2020, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla continues to address the many bugs and glitches that have plagued the game since its launch. Just recently, the development team has updated its current known issues list in order to address the facial animation glitches that gamers seem to have found annoying while going through AC Valhalla‘s dialogues and cutscenes.
Most players of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla are likely familiar with the host of issues the devs have been trying to resolve. Early on, a few days after the game’s launch, a quick update fixed pressing issues with important beginner side quests such as the Seer’s Solace in Norway. And just last January 14, Ubisoft released a 1.1.1 patch update that focused more on addressing quality-of-life issues such as bugs on big side quests that lock players out of progression, aggressive NPCs in towns, and even save file errors when online. This time, though the to-be-fixed bug list looks notably shorter, the team is focusing on the NPC face glitches, among other things.
In Ubisoft’s official forum, the development team listed down the facial animation glitch as the “Lip Sync / Mouth movement during dialogues” issue. This means that the NPC’s lip movement does not synchronize with his/her voice acting. This is especially noticeable in zoomed in dialogues between Eivor and an in-game character. Though not as big of an issue as Eivor’s quiver bug, this can be annoying, especially for players who are already watching important story cutscenes or those who enjoy immersing themselves into the whole Assassin’s Creed Valhalla experience.
The team also lists down other issues that it will be fixing in the future update. Major ones include stalled progression in some crucial story quests, and the final member of a certain organization not being revealed even if all prerequisites have been completed. Minor fixes include Assassin’s Creed Valhalla fish not spawning in oceans or coasts, which can be crucial for quests that require fish, and Photo Mode not implementing photo frames in player’s shots.
There are still some issues under investigation which might be included in incoming patches. These mostly involve more story and side quest bugs. However, there is no news on when exactly the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla development team will address them. Hopefully, the devs will implement the fixes sooner than later, to give the fans who are just starting the game, or those still aiming for a Platinum trophy, the best player experience.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
