After several weeks of frustrating gameplay and the prevalence of a single weapon, Call of Duty: Warzone players have seen a new meta begin to take shape. The dreaded DMR 14’s second nerf proved to be a killing blow for the gun’s reign of terror, as it no longer dominates in every lobby of the free-to-play battle royale game. While it is still used by some, the gun’s overpowered edge is gone, and most players are trying out new weapons in response to the changes.
As such, Call of Duty: Warzone has entered a bold new era where several weapons are viable as opposed to a select few. That said, while players cannot go wrong by picking their guns at random, there are a few that are noticeably stronger than others and are clearly part of the game’s current meta. With an LMG, SMG, and Assault Rifle all vying for the position of the game’s best all-around weapon, players should be aware of which guns will give them an edge in their matches. As such, choosing from the following lineup of guns will help players keep up with those that are up to date on Call of Duty: Warzone’s latest meta.
While the MAC-10 recently saw a nerf delivered, the gun has not lost its viability. In fact, the insanely fast-firing SMG remains top-tier at close range, with no gun being able to outclass the small-but-deadly MAC-10 in this area. Thus far, the gun has only seen a hit to its headshot damage, as the other change was to fix the weapon’s pay-to-win Gallantry blueprint. The base MAC-10 is still a monster in many encounters, and players can expect the weapon to obliterate opponents if they are not too far away.
For players who find themselves stuck in up-close gunfights often, equipping the MAC-10 could prove beneficial. Fortunately, Call of Duty pro and loadout expert NICKMERCS recently shared an improved MAC-10 loadout, granting the weapon some extra speed over his original version. While the MAC-10 will not beat out snipers and other long-range options, every other weapon pales in comparison to the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War gun — and it should continue to get plenty of use before a larger nerf is carried out.

While the M60 Light Machinegun is a dark horse favorite for being the best in its class, NICKMERCS and other high-level players would argue that the best weapon currently available to LMG fans is an old favorite. In a recent video, the FaZe member set a new personal kill record with the Bruen MK9, getting an astounding 39 kills in a single Call of Duty: Warzone match using the gun. However, the weapon choice surprised many, as the gun has not been viable for quite some time.
In August of last year, the Bruen MK9 suffered one of the biggest Call of Duty: Warzone nerfs ever, as the gun had started to dominate pick rates in a similar fashion to the DMR. With the nerfs making the weapon feel like other LMGs as opposed to the assault rifle hybrid that the Bruen originally played like, the gun quickly stopped appearing in Warzone lobbies. Based on NICKMERCS’ latest video, though, the weapon may be becoming relevant once again. For those that can handle the movement speed penalty that accompanies LMGs, setting up a Bruen loadout could be a wise idea.

While there are several options for quality sniping currently available in Call of Duty: Warzone, one of the most consistent is the Kar98k. Though the Kar98k boasts many of the same issues present in other snipers, such as a lack of close range capability and delays between each shot, the gun can be an absolute blast to use. While players may want to use the weapon as a secondary gun as opposed to a primary weapon because of this, snipers should not pass up the chance to use the Kar98k at its peak power.
Fortunately, NICKMERCS has provided players with a solid loadout for the Kar98k, with the rifle being boosted heavily by the Monolothic Suppressor attachment. A must-have item for many guns in Call of Duty: Warzone, this specific suppressor increases damage while also keeping players off enemy radars. The Singuard Custom 27.6″ barrel provides a boost to range as well, something that should be appealing to players that enjoy going for longshots and setting new personal records for long-range kills. For players who thrive in combat from a distance, it will be hard to top a well-built version of the Kar98k.

While several DMR alternatives have emerged following the weapon’s fall from grace, such as the FFAR, none are better than the CR-56 AMAX. A well-rounded Assault Rifle that succeeds at all ranges, the gun functions in a similar fashion to an LMG but without the movement penalty. As such, there is never a situation where CR-56 AMAX users are at a loss, as they can move at a solid speed and rack up kills from any distance. The gun also boasts a respectable fire rate and fully controllable recoil, making it useful for veteran Call of Duty: Warzone players and newcomers alike.
Though the appeal of Call of Duty: Warzone’s current meta is that numerous loadouts are viable, the CR-56 is quickly becoming a favorite among the game’s community. As such, NICKMERCS has provided a loadout for the gun, with the rifle being enhanced by several smart attachments. As expected, the Monolithic Suppressor is seen in the pro player’s CR-56 build, as are other key additions like the XRK Zodiac S440 Barrel. If players want a weapon that will not let them down and can adapt to any scenario that arises during a Call of Duty: Warzone game, the CR-56 is the gun to choose.
