Dauntless developer Phoenix Labs is set to make some big changes to the free-to-play action role-playing in the near future. Based on player feedback, Dauntless will soon see a solo/private play for the Hunting Grounds.
Dauntless is a Monster Hunter-like title that allows players to embark on hunts of Behemoths with friends, explore islands, build-out their hunter, and more. Constant updates for Dauntless help keep the game fresh. But a recent decision made by Phoenix Labs was met with backlash, and now the team is doing a 180.
The decision was made that players would not be able to solo queue for the Hunting Grounds in Dauntless, meaning they had to buddy up with teams to get the job done. But upon listening to the fans, gathering data around private play, and more, Phoenix Labs has decided to add solo/private queue to the Hunting Grounds by the end of March 2021.
March may seem like some distance away, unfortunately, but the announcement that was made on Reddit was met with positive response. For many, it is hard to find a full group to play with for a Hunting Grounds run. For others, it is simply fun to attempt a solo run for the challenge.
For Phoenix Labs, it is encouraging to know that it is willing to hear criticism and make new decisions based on said feedback. Yesterday Microsoft backtracked its decision to up the price of Xbox Live Gold after hearing an outcry from its fans. Understanding how to listen to feedback from fans after a decision that may be an incorrect one is just as important as making the right decision in the first place.
Dauntless is out now for PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
