Since it launched back in November 2020, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has seemingly suffered through no shortage of bugs, glitches, and strange behaviors. While the game has had plenty of content to keep players invested, the rising number of issues seems to slowly be turning people off from the experience as many of them impact the moment to moment gameplay. Players have reported glitches where they get trapped inside a floor, split screen not working as intended, and more.
Some issues inside of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War have received a lot of attention for not only being frustrating but fans being upset with how long they’ve been left inside the game. While it’s unrealistic to expect Treyarch to address every issue as soon as it turns up, a few have been active for quite a while. Thankfully, it appears that Treyarch is ready to talk about its upcoming plans to address a number of these high profile bugs.
The news comes from both Josh Torres, who serves as community manager at Treyarch, as well as the Trello board for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. One of the biggest fixes is for the H.A.R.P. scorestreak, which was added to the game back in December and is supposed to show the location and direction of the enemy team. Since its arrival, players have noticed that it doesn’t always show every enemy on the map, leaving the team to be taken out by those who have gone unmarked. Thankfully, a fix for this is planned to arrive soon potentially as early as next week.
Another issues folks have been reporting lately is that the Fireteam Dirty Bomb map rotation is broken. Reports from players indicate that they’re only able to play on the Alpine map, even though Ruka and Sanatorium are also part of the rotation. Unlike the H.A.R.P. issue, this fix appears to be a way off as the studio is aware and tracking the issue, but there are no specific updates at this time.
Other issues that received updates include players suddenly seeing a negative CoD Point balance in their account as well as HUD messages indicating a bomb detonation during a Fireteam Dirty Bomb match being stuck on the screen far longer than needed. Thankfully, Treyarch appears close to releasing a fix as the studio plans to release it in an upcoming patch, potentially even the next one.
Even with the rash of issues and bugs that currently plague the game, the Call of Duty franchise remains as popular as ever thanks in large part to Call of Duty: Warzone. In fact, Call of Duty was recently named one of PlayStation’s most downloaded games in 2020. Black Ops Cold War dominated on both the PS4 and PS5 charts, Modern Warfare also made the top five, and Warzone knocked off both Fortnite and Rocket League on the Free to Play chart.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
