Divinity 2: 10 Tips To Remember When Exploring The World

The world of Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a harsh place filled with traps, monsters, and dungeons galore. There is so much content in the game that players will easily spend over one hundred hours completing it.

While veteran players may know the ins and outs of the game, new players may need to know some of the basics before they start exploring the world. There are many things that the game doesn’t tell players, so it is best to read up before jumping headfirst into the unknown.

10 Keep A Bedroll On Hand

Bedrolls are one of those essential items that all players should have on hand. Bedrolls are easy to find and plentiful on the starting ship and throughout Fort Joy. As players adventure through the world, they will come across perils that they will need to recover from. Instead of constantly casting healing spells, players can opt to carry a bedroll. Using this item will fully heal the player and all of their companions. Keep in mind that this doesn’t heal other players if playing multiplayer. Having a full health bar is essential for exploring to help prevent death.

9 Telekinesis Is Powerful

Telekinesis is one of the Civil Abilities that players get access to when creating their character and leveling up. Having a character that is good with telekinesis can allow players to get extra loot and avoid some situations. For instance, there is a chest hidden behind a waterfall near Fort Joy. The only way to get access to the sweet loot inside is to use telekinesis or the Teleport skill. The same goes for various items that happen to be placed on ledges. Since normal reach couldn’t possibly bring those items down, telekinesis should be considered.

8 Keep The Teleportation Gloves

Early on in the game players will meet an NPC named Gawin who wants them to kill some crocodiles so that they can get the Teleportation Gloves. He wants the player to use these gloves to help him escape. After completing the quest, the player will get to keep these gloves. They may not have the best stats and they will certainly be replaced soon after getting them, but keeping them around will allow players to use the Teleport skill whenever they have them equipped. Using Teleport around the map can get companions to new areas that were previously unreachable and even help get allies around traps.

7 Skills Can Be Used Outside Of Battle

Any skill can be used outside of battle, but some offer a great advantage for exploring. Skills like Rain can be used to extinguish fires to help protect allies from damage. Other skills like Battle Stomp can be used to clear puddles and clouds.

The Tornado skill can be useful too for clearing terrain and making it safe for travel. Skills like these should always be kept for use outside of battle whenever the need arises.

6 Always Use Spirit Vision

During act two, players will be given a new source ability called Spirit Vision. This ability allows players to see spirits who are wandering around the world. These spirits can give quests, relay information about an area, and further enhance the experience of the game. Players should always remember to use Spirit Vision whenever they are wandering through an area so they don’t miss anything. This ability can also be used as a method for solving a few puzzles.

5 Search Everywhere

Okay, so this may seem a bit obvious in a game about exploration, but some players can be forgetful about searching some areas. Always make sure to loot everything possible and talk to everyone in an area. Many NPCs can give some useful information for quests and about the area. Loot can be hidden everywhere and so it helps to double-check an area sometimes. If a player thinks that something may have been left behind, they can always hold down the interaction button to cause a circle to appear. Letting go of the button will cause a menu to appear that shows everything in the area surrounding the player. Never leave a stone unturned.

4 Check Vendors Often

There are many vendors in the game. During each act, players will come across a town that has multiple vendors and trainers. These individuals should be checked often since their stock can rotate. During act one, players should head back to Fort Joy and the Sanctuary of Amadia often. During act two, they should be checking Driftwood, and during act four players should be checking Arx. Remember that the vendor loot pools rotate every time a player levels up.

3 Remember Waypoint Locations

While roaming the various landscapes, players will come across waypoints. Players should always remember to interact with each waypoint they come across. Interacting with these waypoints will allow players to transport back to them later.

Players should also remember where they find these waypoints so that they can be accessed later. Carrying around a bunch of junk is great, but it gets annoying needing to carrying all of it back when a player gets far away from any vendors.

2 Everything Has A Price Tag

Throughout the game, players will find many items that are perceived to be worthless and therefore able to be left behind. That is not the case. Players who want to get a large profit will want to loot the world, literally. Everything has a value to it whether it is a piece of fruit or an elaborate painting. Some of these items can end up weighing a lot, so players will want to have a character who has high strength. Grabbing everything they can will increase the amount of gold that a player has and ultimately end up allowing them to buy more items they will actually use.

1 Have A Thief

Thievery is a great way for a player to get ahead in the game pretty early. It is also a great way to help a player explore the full map. The Thievery civil ability allows players to pickpocket and lockpick their way to victory. Get the five-finger discount on tons of goods across the world. Lockpicking will also allow players access to various chests and doors. The chests will offer valuable loot while the doors will lead to new areas. Players who decide to go without Thievery will miss out on some chests, but at least they will be able to find keys for the doors.
