Pokemon‘s 25th anniversary is here, and alongside a heartwarming video celebrating the Pokemon franchise, it seems that there are even more surprises on the horizon. It goes without saying that the highest-grossing media franchise in the world deserves an anniversary celebration that is as fitting as its success, and while the anniversary doesn’t officially start until next month, it seems The Pokemon Company has been eager to get a head start on the festivities.
While Pokemon fans are eager to get their hands on New Pokemon Snap and learn about any more upcoming games in the series, other merchandise commemorating Pokemon‘s 25th anniversary has been announced as well, including a new set of Funko Pops and a high-quality figure of N from Pokemon Black and White. However, it seems that even more merchandise is making its way over to fans very soon.
Back in 2013, Pokemon partnered with Kawada, the company behind the micro-sized Nanoblocks, to release Nanoblock sets based on some fan-favorite Pokemon from the Kanto region. Since then, Nanoblock sets featuring Pokemon from all generations have been released regularly, and now, Japanese online retail company Rakuten has revealed several new Nanoblock sets releasing by April 2021.
These Pokemon Nanoblock sets are great for those interested in assembling their own affordable novelty figures. Two of the new Nanoblock sets will include the new Legendary Pokemon Kubfu, which recently debuted in Pokemon Sword and Shield‘s Isle of Armor DLC expansion, as well as the fan-favorite pseudo-Legendary Dragon-type Pokemon Garchomp. Rakuten’s Japanese website lists each set at ¥1099, and notes that the Kubfu Nanoblock set contains 160 pieces, while the Garchomp set consists of 210 pieces. Another 6 figure mini-set featuring Grass-type Pokemon is also set to release, and although this Grass-type set contains 6 smaller figures, only Bulbasaur and Venusaur have been revealed for it so far.
