While exploring Scriopescire, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players are bound to run into the King of the Hill mystery. Atop a hill, a crazy man is screaming about being superior to others, claiming that no one can knock him off his hill. Naturally, Eivor takes this as a challenge and then proceeds to do exactly that.
Mysteries in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla aren’t usually as straightforward as quests. While completing them, players won’t get quest markers telling them where to go every step of the way and instead must solve each mystery by paying close attention to the dialogue or other hints. The King of the Hill mystery is challenging in a different way however.
It won’t take long for most fans to walk into this false king’s “castle” and knock him down, but after doing so the mystery doesn’t complete. The man whimpers and assures Eivor that they’ll never do it again, but the mystery marker stays on the map and Eivor doesn’t get any experience points.
In order to actually complete this Valhalla mystery, players have to start leaving the area. Once they get far enough away, the man will immediately resume shouting at the top of his lungs about being the King of the Hill, an act that Eivor takes to mean he didn’t learn his lesson. Players need to return to the hill at this point and talk to him again. This will trigger another fight, but like the last one, it is extremely easy even at low levels.
Once again, players should leave the area until the man starts shouting. Eivor returns as irritated as ever, and decides to make sure that the third time’s the charm. After besting the man in combat again, he will leave, telling Eivor they can have the hill since they are clearly the superior fighter. This is the end of the mystery and Eivor will earn experience points accordingly. Humorously, players will likely loot everything inside and then run off, never to return to this specific hill again, so in retrospect it seems kind of rude of Eivor to not just let this crazy man have his hill.
As with other mysteries in Ubisoft’s latest title, clearing this one will earn players a hefty chunk of experience, probably enough to earn them another two skill points. Players unsure of how to spend them should invest in the most important skills in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s skill tree first, and then use the rest however they please.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
