Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection Details Weapons and Game Modes in New Trailer

While Capcom is preparing to release the next installment of its acclaimed survival horror series with Resident Evil 8: Village, which received a showcase livestream last week, the long-time developer is also bringing back another horror-adjacent property this year with Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection. The Switch-exclusive reboot with “storybook-like graphics” will be available next month, and today Nintendo put out a new trailer detailing what fans and newcomers can expect.

One major push for the game detailed in this trailer that was not present in the Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection reveal at The Game Awards 2020 is the ability for players to “choose your challenge” with four difficulty levels: Legend, Knight, Squire, and Page. Knight mode is considered the “main” adventure according to Capcom’s website, and the trailer shows how adjusting the difficulty level will alter the amount of enemies that spawn.

The trailer also showcases a multitude of weapons, magic, and skills that the hero Arthur can collect throughout the game. Capcom‘s website says eight types of weapons will be available, including the default lance, holy water, and spiked ball; whereas magic includes the ability to turn into a crushing boulder and passive skills include benefits like powering up Arthur’s attacks when he is down to his underwear. Players can unlock these abilities by restoring “the Umbral Tree” using Umbral Bees hidden throughout various stages.

Fans of the 1985 classic should be interested to see various bosses return with fresh coats of paint in today’s trailer, which also teases what appears to be a harder New Game+ mode in “a world of shadows” that can be unlocked if players “prove worthy.” While there was previously a 10-minute Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection gameplay showcase, the new information provided by this trailer and Capcom’s website bode well for those interested in diving into the Demon Realm.

Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection will be available for Nintendo Switch on February 25, 2021.
