Call of Duty: Warzone players may soon be seeing the arrival of Soap MacTavish inside the battle royale game, as the iconic video game protagonist has been rumored to arrive for some time now. According to a leaker, though, Soap’s Call of Duty: Warzone debut could happen very soon, with the mohawked Scotsman finally becoming playable.
For those unfamiliar with the character, Soap was the protagonist for the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as well as its sequel, the recently remastered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Suffering a nearly fatal injury at the end of the second game, control is transitioned away from Soap in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. While he recovers from his injuries, the character tragically dies later in the game, creating a heartbreaking moment for many players.
While longtime fans and newcomers alike may be seeing Soap die again if the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign remastered rumors prove true, a younger and livelier version of the Task Force 141 member is expected to come to the game soon. Supposedly joining Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 along with some new content, including weapons that are already usable via survival mode, the highly reputable Call of Duty leaker ModernWarzone believes that “Soap could arrive any day now.”
Though no date is given, the Soap operator will function like other new characters, usable in both Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare whenever he arrives. With Soap MacTavish’s debut already teased in the final cutscene of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s extensive Call of Duty: Warzone story, as Soap is heard talking on the phone with Captain Price, his in-universe debut makes sense. While it initially seemed possible that his first appearance would be saved for a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 sequel, the content of his bundle has already leaked.
Soap’s leaked operator bundle includes several skins for the character, a few gun blueprints, an ice pick melee weapon that functions as a fun nod to the unforgettable campaign mission Cliffhanger, and other small goodies. With the content already made and leaked, it seems unlikely that Activision and Infinity Ward would waste the chance to sell the items. A Soap pack could prove to be a big draw for players, with many longtime players likely having an interest in buying the operator whenever he arrives.
With the Soap bundle already leaked and a reputable source hyping up its arrival, it seems like a matter of time before the content drops for Call of Duty fans. When it does, players should have fun seeing Soap meet up with both Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War operators and old pals like Captain Price.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
