Spending 7 years in development, Fallout: New Vegas mod The Frontier finally launched on Nexus Mods earlier this month, bringing the series to Portland, Oregon and offering plenty of fresh Fallout content for fans. Overall, it allegedly boasts around 15 hours of play, offering a substantial amount of new story content complete with fresh weapons and the ability to drive vehicles.
Despite the game only being released recently, The Frontier has since been removed from the Nexus Mod page, with the developers behind the fan-made add-on issuing a statement explaining its disappearance. According to the team, one of the animators behind the title has been discovered posting “animated pedophilic content” on their personal accounts, with the devs opting to stop working while they hold internal discussions about the incident.
According to the modders, the developer in question has been removed from the production team and banned from its Discord. The devs will also be discussing the incident with the team to get their thoughts on the disturbing revelation in the hopes it will make their “decision more informed.” It assures players that more details about The Frontier’s future will be on the way soon, with the developers looking to address what will happen to the mod in light of the shocking news.
As for reactions to The Frontier itself, the general consensus has been mixed thus far. While some have celebrated the scope and size of the mod, others have criticized it for its poor voice acting, overly sexual themes, and writing. Although it remains to be seen what exactly is next for The Frontier mod following the recent news, the title will allegedly be making its way to the Steam Workshop in the near future, opening the experience up to many more Fallout: New Vegas players.
Fallout: New Vegas has become a hub for several significant mods over the years, including graphical overhauls, new quests, fresh weapons, and significant new locations similar to The Frontier. What set the latter apart from the others was its scope and attempt to act as something of an expansion to the original game’s campaign. Much like the core New Vegas experience, players are able to help the various factions vying for the wasteland, including Ceaser’s Legion, the New Californian Republic, and The Enclave. The DLC went as far as to even add a new faction in The Crusaders, which are formed as an offshoot of the Brotherhood faction that crop up in most Fallout releases.
Fallout: New Vegas is available to play on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
