Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 1.7 Fixes Pascal Bug

Animal Crossing: New Horizons recently released the Version 1.7.0 update to Switch consoles, which fixed a Pascal bug in addition to the seasonal events and items coming next month.

The January update, which released on January 28th, mainly contains the Festivale content. Festivale is a day-long dance celebration inspired by the real-world Mardi Gras. A returning NPC known as Pave the Peacock will task the players with gathering feathers in return for special furniture items from the Pave series. In past Animal Crossing installments, players were also able to collect candies and play minigames with villagers for prizes, though it’s unclear if that element of Festival will stay in New Horizons.

Along with the celebration occurring on February 15th, the 1.7 patch to Animal Crossing: New Horizons resolves an issue where players were unable to receive the Mermaid Fence DIY recipe from Pascal. Pascal appeared over the summer after Animal Crossing released the swimming update, and players have since been reporting small issues here and there. The Mermaid set is coveted furniture in the New Horizons community but is difficult to obtain. The only way to obtain the Mermaid DIY recipes is by trading Scallops with Pascal.

In addition to fixing this small issue and the Festivale seasonal event, the January New Horizons update also includes “other adjustments and corrections” to “improve the gameplay experience,” Nintendo’s patch notes read.

In terms of holidays, players have quite a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks, also provided by the Version 1.7.0 update. Before Festivale will be a Japanese holiday called Setsubun, or in the Animal Crossing sphere, Bean Day. Players will get to greet spring by throwing beans at other players with the Bean-Throwing Kit, available at Nook Shopping until February 3rd. And veteran players might be excited for the figurine model of Resetti celebrating Groundhog Day, also available through the Nook Shopping app until February 2nd.

Of course, February is also the month of Lunar New Years as well as Valentine’s Day, and players can celebrate both holidays to their hearts’ content in New Horizons. For Valentine’s Day, Animal Crossing will add a Chocolate Heart and a Rose Bouquet Heart, both available for 1,200 bells. Korean New Year can be celebrated with the iconic money pouch and Chinese New Year can be celebrated similarly with the red envelope.

Finally, to celebrate the NFL’s Super Bowl, two new sports items will be available at Nook Shopping until February 15th: the American Football Rug and the Cheering Megaphone.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now for Nintendo Switch.
