Monster Hunter Rise is the next title in Capcom’s Monster Hunter series, set to release on March 26. Fans have been clamoring for more information about Monster Hunter Rise and Capcom continues to provide it, whether it be in the form of gameplay shorts or concept art. Some of the latest concept art showcases the Frost Islands, the homeland of terrifying monsters in Monster Hunter Rise.
The Monster Hunter Rise demo was released on January 7 and gives gamers a chance to get familiar with the world surrounding the game’s central hub, Kamura Village. The demo features waterfall vistas and thick forests, home to the raptor-like Great Izuchi and the slippery leviathan Mizutsune. But there are other terrains in Monster Hunter Rise, including the snow-covered Frost Islands. These islands are the home of several frosty creatures, including Goss Harag, a Fanged Beast that wields icy blades.
Capcom’s official Monster Hunter Twitter account has been busy, and over the past couple of days, some concept art detailing the Frost Islands has been revealed. The art shows off the region’s icy cliffs and snow-covered banks, and Goss Harag sitting by a lake. The Frost Islands are the home place of many monsters in Monster Hunter Rise, including the Barioth, Lagombi, and the creepy Khezu.
Though there are only a few pieces of concept art, fans of the Monster Hunter series will be able to recognize not only Goss Harag, but also Tetranadon, another confirmed monster in Monster Hunter Rise. Short gameplay clips of Monster Hunter Rise have only shown the Tetranadon in lush green areas, but since there are usually multiple variants of the same monster in Monster Hunter games, it isn’t surprising to see a version of the Tetranadon that lurks in the Frost Islands.
Of course, once players are able to slay the monsters in the Frost Islands they can use carved monster parts to make weapons and armor for themselves and their companions. The trusty Palicos have been around in Monster Hunter games for a while, but the new Palamutes offer an excellent way to efficiently use items and get around maps faster. Armor for both Palicos and Palamutes from Frost Island monsters is also available to see in another tweet.
With Monster Hunter Rise‘s release date still almost two months away, there is plenty of time for Capcom to release even more concept art of the game’s environments. The Monster Hunter Twitter account has already tweeted out concept art of several NPCs, including those that inhabit Kamura Village. Anyone looking to try Monster Hunter Rise should download the demo as soon as possible, because the download period ends on February 1.
Monster Hunter Rise will be released on March 26, 2021, for the Nintendo Switch.
