After months of battling in Zendikar Rising, it is finally time for Magic: The Gathering players to planeswalk once again and find themselves in a new realm with new enemies, allies, and spells to uncover. The February set, Kaldheim, offers fans of the card game a chance to exploring a realm that is brand new to the game and full of heavy metal and Norse influence.
Kaldheim pre-release events aren’t going to be taking over game shops this weekend the way that they usually would (thanks to COVID safety precautions in many parts of the world), but there will still be a chance to play with the new set of cards. Magic Arena, which recently launched an early access Android app, will once again be providing special digital pre-release events featuring sealed and draft tournaments.
The Kaldheim Limited format will likely dominate the available events on Magic Arena in the coming months and players who are trying to build up their collection of the new cards can cash in a few free packs to get the fun started. It has become standard for Wizards of the Coast to offer a one-time use promo code when each set drops on Magic Arena to provide players with three free packs. There’s no exception this time around and fans of the game can now grab their free Kaldheim cards with the following promo code…
PlayKaldheim
In order to redeem the code and claim the packs, players just need to head to the game’s Store tab. From that area, they should be able to find a Redeem Code field in the upper righthand corner. Entering the case sensitive “PlayKaldheim” code will add three packs of the new set to their collection. Keep in mind that each of the “Play” codes can only be redeemed one time. Some of the older codes are still active, so players who haven’t claimed those ones yet should give each of them a try and see what still works.
PlayZendikar – 3 Zendikar Rising Packs
PlayTheros – 3 Theros Beyond Death Packs
PlayIkoria – 3 Ikoria Lair of Behemoths Packs
PLAYM21 – 3 Core Set 2021 Packs
Three packs won’t get players very far in terms of gaining enough new cards to build a Standard legal constructed deck, but it’s still a nice offer. The free packs arrive at the beginning of every set to draw new players in and give dedicated players a little reward. The free packs do a nice job of introducing the more casual players to the general theme of a new set and, ideally for Wizards, may tempt them to purchase entry to a pre-release event to see even more of the new cards.
Magic: The Gathering – Kaldheim releases February 5, 2021. Other Magic: The Gathering sets are available now at game shops or digitally in Magic Arena.
